Re:

I find it funny how in the space of three days Burnley win two prizes. The northern shithole living awards and the most holligans at games. Well Done Burnley, keep up the good work!! Re:

The Smiths (Lancaster University 1984) - actually this one does top the list. Eh? A good band up at uni!? Sounds like the place has gone downhill in the last 20 years, we get no-one now :( Good point, the unis don't seem to feature on tour itineraries the way they used to. Still, it was The Smiths'...

In no particular order: The Smiths (Lancaster University 1984) - actually this one does top the list. The Pogues (King George's Hall, Blackburn 1985) Jesus and Mary Chain (King George's Hall, Blackburn 1986?) - so short that my mate went to the loo and missed the whole thing  Sisters of Mercy ...

 Can't really argue with the great man this week (much as I'd like to) :- \"I was impressed with the way Blackburn played at Everton. They get criticism at times, but they are a good team, with good players who work hard. Man City have made a spectacular start, but this will be a tough test f...

Re:

I think it would take a fair chunk of luck. That said, if Roque continues his current form and Benni recovers last seasons form, then we'll have two twenty goals a season strikers and that will go a long, long way to helping - especially when we do have a strong defence and a good keeper. But yes, ...

When the wingers don't perform the all-round performance suffers, and once again the shadow of an England call-up seemed to fall malevolently across Bentley's game  But to say we were dire is plain crazy - dire teams do not win away from home against well-drilled opposition, and given our h...

Re:

Okay Blackbat. By Benitez's standards, Kuyt's a good buy, but don't forget he cost a hefty 10 million quid, and for that much, 12 in 28 isn't really so hot... But Benitez's biggest problem is still the ridiculous rotation scheme he uses. Gerrard's inspired diving ... sorry, leadership ... will see ...

Curbishley and Jol are the most vulnerable IMO. Jols' failure to address his squad's weaknesses during the summer while spending crazy money adding to, but not strengthening, an already good strike force calls his competence into question. Curbishley's scattergun spending suggests he hasn't got a cl...

Re:

However, Vadso is a tough, tough place to grow up! And as for coming from there to being Norway's idol and playing football in the EPL, it must have taken some determination. Plus the single-mindedness and dedication to become a left-sided player despite being naturally right-footed. Gamst is one o...

Yes, I heard this for the first time last night - cancer, apparently. Such a colossus, particularly for people of my generation. A great loss.

The End of 'Rome'

Completely bereft now that this has finished. What a great series it was - lashings of sex, violence and political intrigue, great performances and dialogue, and possibly the best title sequence on TV. I'll definitely be investing in the DVDs.

Hughes quoted in the LET:\"I think Benni sometimes looks at certain things that have been said in the media, and maybe places too much significance on some of the things that have been said or intimated, and responds accordingly.\" This suggests that Hughes regards Benni as more naive than calculati...
