Re: England Squad

I think Sterling undoubtedly gets a rough ride from the press... the old primark and bathroom stories more so than during the world cup. In a similar vein to the treatment Ozil has received in Germany it's hard to ignore his minority status as a factor. Whether it is the sole, or even main reason is...

Re: General Election

Indeed... after nearly a decade of draconian cuts, low corporation tax and taking benefits away from people with disabilities... employment is nearly back to its pre-2008 crash levels. :hyper: https://www.ons.gov.uk/employmentandlabourmarket/peopleinwork/employmentandemployeetypes/bulletins/uklabour...

Re: Sack race

Not sacked but today Gary Bowyer walked away from Blackpool. Story is he was using his own money to pay for the training facilities at Fulwood. Top bloke and deserves a chance with another club were he has more support from the owner. Nah... he's got a niche now... he should clearly try coventry ne...

Re: The US sports thread

I really like it, although it too can be a bit flaky. Unfortunately, the dev team are running out of money to run the site and have been asking for donations to keep the site afloat for the remainder of the season. Not sure if it'll be running next year. Looks like togga folded this summer - alongs...

Obviously reducing the discussion to 2 players is a bit daft... but surely Armstrong is the pick. Chapman has been more injured than not for the last 2 seasons... not that he isn't worth the risk, but not a safe bet either.

Without Armstrong and Chapman our attack is considerably weaker than it was last season. I think we'll struggle. 14th/15th would be my guess.
Probably, but I'm feeling optimistic... plus we could still sign Zidane.

Re: Cycling

No... But fair play to him... Must have taken a lot to change his riding style and body shape. This hasn't been like Wiggins in 2012 with a TT heavy course to suit, he has been the best climber in the field and possibly had a little left in the TT as well. Agree about final stage TT... In the right ...

It's also worth remembering that the players are investments for their parent clubs... Even where they don't fit within the short/med term plans the club will be looking after ROI.

It's a crying shame that a few small clubs hoard the majority of the young talent, but such is football

Re: Cycling

Looking like not... Thomas has been pretty impressive thus far... seems odd to think he'd have been pulling Froome up the mountains if it wasn't for the loss of 50 seconds in the early stages.

Dumoulain could still just about do this, but has been looking like Thomas since the Alpe stage.
