Re: Carabao Cup: Carlisle v Blackburn Rovers, Tue, 14 August 2018, KO 19:45

1-5 and still on the attack.

Was slightly miffed by the strong line up. But perhaps Mowbray wanting our goalscorers to get firing and it’s great that Palmer, Dack and Arma are all firing tonight. Bodes well for the weekend.

Dack sounds like he’s on fire tonight.

Re: General Election

It would be good to know how people employed in zero-hour contracts are categorised, the ONS also published estimates in April 2018 that it was 901,000. Also from a biannual survey of businesses it indicated that there were 1.8m contracts that did not guarantee a minimum number of hours, this repres...

Re: Rumours, wishlists and general tomfoolery

Given that Southampton managed to get Danny Ings on loan it seems likely that Gallagher will go out on loan somewhere, I'd much rather us prioritise trying to bring him back here than Wickham who whilst a decent striker is coming back from a year and a half out injured. Karanka has commented on Brer...

Re: Blackburn Rovers v Millwall, Sat 11 August 2018, KO 15:00

Despite the fact that we could quite easily be on 4 or even 6 points it still feels like a positive start to the season. We've played 2 tough opponents and been entirely at home playing back at this level.

Re: Rumours, wishlists and general tomfoolery

I didn't say that a fan taking exception to what we've bid is very odd, calling our bid laughable is what I said was very odd, given that laughable is defined as "so ludicrous as to be amusing". My initial point was only on the basis of semantics. They have used hyperbolic language in the headline o...

Re: Rumours, wishlists and general tomfoolery

Shame we didn't secure Brereton, he's generally been regarded as an exciting young prospect although not sure how much of that was over hyped from his performance against Arsenal in the FA Cup.

Still get the feeling we might bring back Gallagher on loan which would be good.

Re: Rumours, wishlists and general tomfoolery

Gibbon is right that a players valuation is ultimately what a buying club is willing to pay to secure the player. If a club doesn’t want a player to leave, you have to offer over the odds to try and tempt them. He’s their player, and the seller sets the selling price. The real price is what he’s wo...

Re: Rumours, wishlists and general tomfoolery

If a team made a £4m offer for Dack it would seem like a completely reasonable offer to be made from a potential buyer, I don't believe we'd sell him for that but my instinct wouldn't be to call it a laughable offer. Offering £500k would be laughable for example. Jack Marriot has gone to Derby for £...

Re: Rumours, wishlists and general tomfoolery

This is a really pointless debate and I can't be bothered, I simply made a point on the basis of fan hyperbole which all things considered seemed fairly reasonable.

Re: Rumours, wishlists and general tomfoolery

It's odd given the facts stated in my post, the subjective opinion of a fan writing the article is an opinion their entitled too. But the fact is we've come in with a 33% increase on previous interest of 3 other clubs, two of which are clubs with sizable stature in this division. It would also repre...

Re: Rumours, wishlists and general tomfoolery

I wasn't having a go at anyone... Four different Championship clubs have independently lodged interest in Freeman below £5m. Given the scouting networks and general transfer market workings across clubs it suggests that that is a realistic valuation of the player, and QPR paid £350k 18 month...

Re: Rumours, wishlists and general tomfoolery

We’ve bid 4m for Luke Freeman from QPR. Attacking midfielder. Late yesterday evening it was being reported that Blackburn Rovers had launched a laughable £4million bid for Queens Park Rangers midfielder Luke Freeman Very odd to say our bid is laughable given that there has been previous interest fr...

Re: Rumours, wishlists and general tomfoolery

Well he scored 5 and got 12 assists last season. That’s pretty impressive. I guess the only thing that comes as an oddity is that he’d be in competition with Dack, Palmer and Rothwell. It’s nice to know we’ve got some cash to throw about but we really could use another winger and defender as well if...
