Re: Brexit....or in.

Magic Majid... for the annoyance of racists everywhere. Although I'm a little behind the times - I assumed that the 6 month delay rather than a year was specifically to avoid EU elections. Agree, this guy is an absolute star! I think he’s pretty much single-handedly made politics interesting and da...

Re: General Election

I think the worry is like the infamous US habit of tacking distasteful policies/laws on to genuine, necessary bills (similar to the recent Trump federal shut-down over funding)... by amending the vote tonight to include people’s vote, as well as extending A50, they risk losing the vote because a lot...

Re: General Election

They’ve said they aren’t backing it because the timing isn’t right today, tonight is about extending A50 and buying more time. Even the official people’s vote campaign are saying now isn’t the time. It’s only Soubry and the Irrelevant Party who are harping on about it. Next week sounds like may be a...

Re: The US sports thread

Edelman took his punishment for the drugs offence, though he’s not the only one in the league whose been caught out by it. He was coming off a complete ACL tear though so he was always up against it. Can’t defend him for taking a shortcut but as said, he served his punishment. That said, he’s been d...

Re: Rumours, wishlists and general tomfoolery

If feel we’d be better served by a bigger target man than a smaller poacher in this window. Graham has been brilliant in his hold up play, bringing Dack and Armstrong along, so someone like a Gestede or a Carroll would be a great shout. Would love to see Rudy back!

Re: Mike Harrison R.I.P.

Here here Gibbon, I love reading about it. Tell me Duggy, what are your memories of Bobby Saxton? He’s a relative of mine, infact my dad had a trial for him when he was at Plymouth I believe. A family favour, he didn’t get the job obviously! 😂 My dad was an old school centre half, built like a brick...

Re: The US sports thread

Bet the Saints are a bit pissed off.... Patriots in the Superb Owl again. :boring: Both games were incredible tbh, though the Saints have a genuine gripe with that call. It could have been pass interference, defenceless receiver, targeting and they call nothing. Unbelievable bottle job by the offic...

Re: Brexit....or in.

Agreed, I’m all for proportional representation and perhaps a shakeup of the traditional parties. I’m very much a socialist and for me, the Labour Party is a left-wing, socialist party by nature. The party and the cause, fighting for a fairer society for me is far bigger and more important than any ...

Re: Brexit....or in.

He didn’t force a no confidence vote because he’s content to let the Tory party rip itself apart (which is literally what it’s doing given this mornings news). He only gets one shot at a no confidence vote and as is stands the DUP would vote alongside the Tories against it and it would also unite a ...

Re: Brexit....or in.

Labour have for months now had 6 factors that must be passed by any Brexit deal, most important of all is protecting jobs and workers rights through frictionless trade. Something that May’s deal doesn’t do. Kier Starmer is the minister responsible for that, and a damn fine politician, but Corbyn has...

Re: Brexit....or in.

I’d argue a good amount of those 17m people voted leave on the back of the circa £350m extra funding for the NHS a week that was proven pretty quickly after the referendum to be a complete lie. The NHS is rightfully beloved by the British people, they aren’t stupid, they know it’s stretched to capac...

I always ignore the idiots who comment on LT articles, the vast majority are from the same tiresome Burnley fan with too much time on his hands.

Rich Sharpe is a bright point though. As a reporter, I genuinely rate him. Find his match commentary quite good too.
