Re: Hubble Images and Space Stuff

Hehehe yeah a bit of an oxymoron but Elon Musk himself said he actually expected an explosion on the launch pad or just above, so understandable really that they didn’t hold much hope in reusing them. Sounds like the whole exercise was more of a demonstration to the US military that they could put s...

Re: Hubble Images and Space Stuff

Yeah I didn’t realise at the time but the centre rocket of the three failed to reignite two of the three landing engines and as such hit the water just alongside the drone ship at over 300 mph. Total loss but it was never intended to be reused so not too critical. It caused quite a bit of damage to ...

Re: Hubble Images and Space Stuff

True, nobody ever masters spaceflight. Thinking back Apollo 1, Challenger and Columbia showed us that. They are doing a hell of a job though. What a flight that was! I’m absolutely stunned it even flew but to do it without a hitch and to see the two boosters land synchronised side by side was just s...

Re: Hubble Images and Space Stuff

On the topic of space, it’s a huge night for space exploration (and arguably humanity) as SpaceX are due to launch their new super heavy rocket, that will likely take a manned mission to Mars in the coming decade. Unless you’ve lived under a rock for the last few years you’ll know SpaceX have master...

Re: The US sports thread

The best team won, simple as that. Both offenses played out of their skin (Foles particularly was exceptional) both defenses were atrocious but crucially the Eagles defense made one exceptional play when it counted with only 2 minutes left in the game and the Patriots were STILL only a hair from sco...

Re: Plymouth Argyle v Blackburn, Sat 3 Feb 2018, KO 15:00

Good squad, be interesting to see how Bell and Conway link up.

Could well be a statement game this one, Plymouth are in good form and going well, this could be a massive win if we can pull it off!

C’mon the Rovers!

Re: The US sports thread

A delay of game penalty, after a timeout. And then 47 yards of penalties to gift New England 7 points.... A delay of game after a timeout that’s completely on Jacksonville, that’s a huge no-no, and 47 yards of legitimate holding penalty. You can’t grab a guy 40 odd yards downfield and not give up a...

Re: The US sports thread

I’ve been saying the Jags are the worst possible matchup for the Pats since the halfway point of the season. They’re far, far better than most people give them credit for. That said, that hit on Gronk was just a pure dirty play. Could of knocked the guy out the game (I hope not). Wasn’t necessary an...

Re: The US sports thread

Well my predictions went down the toilet didn’t they. What a weekend of games. Both the Sunday games were absolutely outstanding. Sadly I missed both of them so I’ve only seen highlights. The Steelers paid for underestimating the Jags. They were so focused on revenge against the Patriots that they l...

Re: The US sports thread

Yeah I have to agree the Decker pass interference call was total bullshit. Not only was it inside 5 yards but both players had hands all over. If anything offset penalties and replay the down but even that would be harsh. I didn’t get a good look at the dodgy false start/encroachment penalty but I’v...

Re: The US sports thread

There’s bad calls and bad officiating in every game, some for and some against. There were quite a few holds and facemasks missed committed by the Titans too. Also are you trying to say the NFL is somehow aiding the Patriots by messing with the clock? Because the game clock is controlled completely ...

Re: The US sports thread

Very good point, I should have known you meant the Boston Patriots... ironically that was the original name of the New England Patriots... and they played their games at both Fenway Park and Harvard university.

Re: The US sports thread

A terrorist group from the Metal Gear Solid series? I think you may be right, being a fan does give you less perspective but I happen to be one of the more realistic fans, there are some whose arrogance absolutely fucks me off and I’m likely to tell them that. I’ve seen it today about the Ti...

Re: The US sports thread

Man United of the NFL mate. Manure fans don't get why everyone hates them, either. The fact you think it might be related to deflategate demonstrates it. No I’m quite aware that fans hated on the Pats before deflate gate. There are parallels between the Pats success under Belichick and Manure’s suc...

Re: The US sports thread

I really don’t get the hate for the Patriots. They don’t spend more than other teams, they aren’t loud and rowdy and don’t make outrageous claims. They are quite simply run well, play hard and do what other teams don’t, that is stay consistent. The scandal of deflate gate is an absolute pile of bull...
