Re: 2018/19 Season

Ah gutted. I’m going to be home for the first week of August and I was planning to take my wife to her first Rovers game (she wasn’t enthusiastic :? ) but there’s no way I’m getting down to Suffolk

Re: Rumours, wishlists and general tomfoolery

Although it is nice to know Rovers have money to spend this summer  That is NOT the right conclusion to draw from being linked with lots of random players Yes, Fode Koita was a prime example of this. That whole season was spent being linked to random players for the reason that we couldn’t spe...

Re: Where are they now?

I should add, my perspective is only slightly more informed by proximity. I don’t know enough to be considered any authority on Swedish football.

Re: Where are they now?

Probably money, or the lack of it. Anyone with any talent now immediately ships out, often before most Swedes are even aware they have a decent player on their hands. No player development really takes place. In the the 90s, the core of that Swedish had longer stints a Swedish clubs when the financi...

Re: Where are they now?

I suspect part of the issue is that the Allsvenskan is an improbably poor standard of football. Not a single Swedes playing in Sweden has been picked for the national team (though one chap Fromm Östersunds is in the Iran squad and I think there are one or two others in other squads). They just don’t...

Re: Where are they now?

Martin Olsson is turning out for Sweden against the Danes tonight. I thought he’d lost his place in the national side to be honest, hence why it caught my attention.

Re: The Blackburn Rovers 'We Are Going Up' Celebration Thread

It's quite difficult in Sweden for mostly the same reason. I suppose its my fault for always using Manchester as a reference point when people ask where I'm from. Blackpool's (my unfortunate place of birth) time in the Premiership was too ephemeral for Swedes to reference, and as great as Tom Finney...

Evans is having his best game in about 4 years; though I do feel he is generally judged unfairly

I don’t recall how the rest of the album fares pedal guitar-wise, but this made for pleasant listening

Re: The Theadore Invitational - a musical insight...

Been checking out lots of pedal steel guitar after listening to Gruff Rhys' American Interior album recently. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0BaqHfm3sto It's such an awesome sounding instrument that it's even worth putting up with country music for. Some classic crossover stuff by The Byrds, Elton...
