Re: General Election

I'm starting to wonder if May is hoping she ends up the same way as Spencer Perceval, it's the only way she'll salvage some of her reputation. Even with the more optimistic estimates of how many leave voters have changed their minds or dropped dead, there's still enough of us to win a landslide elec...

Re: General Election

It's kind of amazing given how useless Theresa May proves herself to be on a daily basis, and how her cabinet embarass themselves on a regular basis, that the Tories are polling about 10 points ahead of Labour at the moment.

Re: Brexit....or in.

Hey blackbat, have you seen the news today?

87% of imports will be tariff free in a no-deal situation, up from 80% under EU regulations

It's just a shame it's going to be academic after the vote tonight...

Re: The VAR again!!!

I think officials just enjoy being twats. The problem with the rules of football (or maybe the appeal) is that they're written to be subjective. They're open to abuse and mean referees become an active element in determining the results of games. And now we have VAR amplifying how counter-in...

Re: The VAR again!!!

Not seen this incident, but I did see one given against Man City in their game against Schalke that left me fuming. Not least because the idiot referee in the tv studio insisted a fraction of a second was enough time to react and move your arm away from a ball kicked straight at it. Apparently the h...

Re: House buying

After a delay of 7 weeks, the sellers finally managed to get their (mostly complete) forms sent in. Rather strangely, they've put that they want to move somewhere as a "special requirement" for the completion date... :yeahright:

Re: General Election

The no-ferries thing was better fodder for headline writers, but this is a bigger scandal. £33m blown for not following procedure?

Re: General Election

to be honest - for most Labour people I speak to Corbyn's lack of integrity has been failing (until now) to follow through on his promise to follow the policy decided in conference on a second referendum. From what I recall, their policy at the conference depended on who was speaking at the time. W...

Re: Birmingham City v Blackburn Rovers, Sat, 23 Feb 2019, KO 15:00

I guess you've got to pinpoint what the problem is first - is it a lack of confidence, concentration, fitness? Having just come back up, I'd mark finishing where we are now as a success for this season. The order results have come in may have given us hope of even more. But we need to be pragmatic. ...

Re: General Election

Well it seems to have made both main leaders volte-face on what they've been promising for the last two years. Not really surprising that dithering May has backed down, she's always seemed like she's trying too hard to fool people she wasn't still a remainer. But Corbyn's blown out the water the not...

Re: General Election

And three tories join. Oh Noes! And Ian Austin has also quit Labour but not joined the other quitters. In the grand scheme of things, does it make much of a difference? I think the Conservative/DUP coalition still have a virtual majority with Sinn Fein not taking their seats. Other than causing a b...
