Re: England Squad

I do wish the TV would stop prattling on about England having the "easy" side of the draw. It's by no means a given that we'll beat Colombia, never mind the other teams. And the "big" teams that have gone out haven't been as impressive in this competition as some of the sides we will have to face.

Re: England Squad

His chest isn't entirely made at right angles....... We're not talking Nicky Reid square boots here. I can angle my chest so that a ball coming at it bounces off in several angles quite easily. There is one angle that categorically removes the possibility of it hitting his arm. Quoting Conan Doyle,...

Re: England Squad

Not trying to lose, but bit trying to win either... Southgate was asked point blank that he would have brought Kane on if he was serious about winning.. he said "yeah, I suppose so". I thought that was a particularly stupid question, he'd have started Kane and the rest of his first team if he was d...

Re: England Squad

They use the exact same technique in cricket all the time, whereby you can't see the whole picture in a single video, but you can when you look at two. It's called correlation. Yeah you should try it... Your version defies basic physics. The ball cannot deflect forward coming from his left an...

Re: England Squad

Anyway, are we all ready to be humbled by Colombia? :hyper: After trying to avoid the more difficult side of the draw it is almost inevitable surely. I don't really buy that either side were trying to finish second. Why would Cahill clear off the line? Why would Januzaj score? Why would Rashford bo...

Re: England Squad

Can't speak for transfermarkt, but CIES do some pretty good work on this stuff. Having access to confidential information doesn't really come into it... it's all about crunching data, looking at market trends and publicly available basics like contract length. How do they measure up to reality? Dif...

Re: England Squad

The angle from the left shows the ball hit his chest and only move forwards from that point on; there's an optical illusion on the angle from the front where it appears to roll on his arm, but if you look from the left and the position of his right arm which is held behind his chest, it's impossibl...

Re: England Squad

This is pretty interesting, not quite sure how accurate it is and certainly have no idea how players are valued anymore. Rashford the 4th most expensive England player at the World Cup. Kane 3rd most valuable of any player? Aguero looks a little cheap compared to some of the other 'world class' 'su...

Re: England Squad

I thought the Hernandez one was the first review that actually was a handball - he had time to see the ball coming towards him and twisted his body so that the ball hit his arm. Didn't matter in the end but that's not the point. Offsides are easy to correct because there's a strict rule to follow, ...

Re: Where are they now?

Nzonzi is there too with France. I think that's what prompted Duggy to ask... Sat sitting watching t'telly as a lot of skilfull but oversensitive babies chase a bag of wind in Russia, I can see Nzonzi and Diouff (sp?) but who else graced our beloved turf at Ewood in their rise to fame and fortune.....

Re: Where are they now?

I think there's three other ex-Rovers at the World Cup, or at least were there at the start - Nikola Kalinic who's been sent home for refusing to play against Nigeria, Martin Olsson and Phil Jones.
