Broken URL

Post by SheepShagginRover » Thu Dec 10, 2009 5:27 pm

Fairly regularly my browser decides the URL of Roverstalk is broken, it doesn't happen with any other website. Happened on my old computer too, anyone else get this? and why is it doing it?

Why not use words and describe it. Was it like someone had restarted the web and database server so the site wasn't available for 30 seconds? How would you describe that?

Out of the blue the page dissappears, in its place is a white background with a text box from google stating that the URL may be broken. It offers the option of viewing a cache of the site or to google "rovers talk index". I then have to refresh the page 5 or 6 times to get it back.

Sounds like you've: -

1. Got some cack ass Google search plugin shiat installed preventing you from seeing the actual problem
2. Got some cack ass connection issue probably related to DNS servers - they always are

If it was happening to me I might: -

1. Care
2. Be able to understand the issue (if it even exists as an issue for the site as opposed to for you)
3. Fix it if it comes within my realm of control

But it isn't. I think we're done in this thread now unless someone had something to say about the Romans. Or Igor Tudor.

Why would we mention the Romans? What have they ever done for us?

How about blocking users from quoting posts that contain images? It can be a drain on slower (i.e. my) connections that have to load 3853 images per page. Esta possibledad?

Damn good idea.
