Re: Matt Jansen back at Rovers...
It's good publicity for a manager who a large number of fans have taken an instant irrational disliking to...
It's already widely stated that we're a great club to work for, a number of ex-employees have made it known that they didn't realise how good they had it until they left. It still doesn't seem to help us much.

Or maybe we'd be worse off than we are already if we DIDN'T do all these little things. :scratch:Rover the Top wrote:It's good publicity for a manager who a large number of fans have taken an instant irrational disliking to...

Perhaps the world will end tomorrow and it won't really matter.

To be honest, I don't see anything lost by doing it, but I don't see anything gained by it. Except perhaps some fans start feeling a little happier for having exaggerated childhood memories revived. It is a pointless exercise for Rovers, and even from Jansen's point of view, I honestly feel he'd be better training with a club who might offer him a contract. This debate reminds me a bit of when Tony Parkes was sacked - there wasn't a place for him at the club if we were to move forward, yet people felt we should give him a job for life because he'd been here so long. I think romanticism and dreams have a place in football, but so does common sense. And common sense tells me that Jansen doesn't need to come back to Rovers just to build up his fitness so he can go on trial elsewhere.

And romanticism (not to be confused with homoeroticism) reminds me that I support Rovers and not some plastic club who don't know what it is to lose.

Since the facetious suggestions have started again:

Good for him. Not that he was about to say his ultimate ambition was to sign for Burnley given he is training with us.Rover the Top wrote:Matt Jansen wrote:"If you are asking for my ultimate ambition it would be to wear that blue and white strip again."

Re: Matt Jansen back at Rovers...
Yeah absolutely. Wearing the blue and white halves is an ambition everyone decent person should hold. Unlikely for most of us though, outside of gpaying a visit to the club shop, and sadly I'm including Matt in that.
Hope he does though. Even if only to annoy Blackbat

It won't annoy me if he comes back and is great. But he won't.
