Yet going back to the early to mid nineties, Sweden were a dominant force. Something must have changed?

Probably money, or the lack of it. Anyone with any talent now immediately ships out, often before most Swedes are even aware they have a decent player on their hands. No player development really takes place.
In the the 90s, the core of that Swedish had longer stints a Swedish clubs when the financial playing of was a bit more even - when clubs like IFK Gothenburg could win European competitions or beat the likes of Bayern Munich.
Shoddy coaching doesn’t help either, hence the success of unknowns like Graham Potter.

I should add, my perspective is only slightly more informed by proximity. I don’t know enough to be considered any authority on Swedish football.

Probably Jason's level - a good signing by Bolton.

They will be going down next season without a doubt. Latest on Bolton is they think they have a chance of signing Danny Graham

Isn't Billy Graham not with us anymore...anyway news is Danny Graham has today signed with Rovers again. Wouldn't mind seeing Ashley Graham in a Rovers shirt

Great news about Danny, always happy to see him on the team sheet.
The player I would have liked have seen at Rovers is Scott Arfield, despite his previous club. Signed for Rangers unfortunately.

Good player for us, but more mercenary than most. I thought Emerton offered more at rightback.

Maybe... I always wondered whether emerton just hit a people patch which happened to coincide with his positional switch.

Still... Shame for Lucas... I always liked him while he was here... And I'm sure in the long run every same football fan finds it hard to begrudge a player chasing a better paycheck.

I always thought he was an asshole. Like the time he ran the length of the pitch to tell his own fans to shove it after being criticised for whatever it was. Money grabbing, I think. Then went and left for West Ham after claiming he wanted Champions League football....
