Where are they now?

Post by iamarover » Thu Nov 12, 2009 1:47 pm

A thread to discuss Ex-Rovers (I thought we had one already, please merge with it if possible).

Former Blackburn defender Craig Short is relishing the challenge of trying to improve the fortunes of Hungarian League side Ferencvaros.

You've got me thinking of ex-Rovers players who are managing English league teams:

Man City - Mark Hughes
Preston North End - Alan Irvine
Rochdale - Keith Hill
Lincoln City - Chris Sutton
Coventry City - Chris Coleman
Leeds United - Simon Grayson

I think that's it. Lee Richardon left Chesterfield in the summer, and Mike Newell was sacked by Grimsby not so long ago.

Well if you want to go down that road - Jansen is now a coach at Garry Flitcroft's Leigh Genesis.
Mick Rathbone has been the physio at Everton for quite some time now.
Scott Sellars is a youth team coach at Man City - he had been working with Richardson at Chesterfield.
Ian Pearce is player/assistant manager at Lincoln, alongside Chris Sutton.
Derek Fazackerley is assistant manager at Huddersfield Town.
Steve Agnew is a coach at Middlesbrough.
Robbie Slater is a football pundit in Australia.
Tony Gale, Tim Sherwood, Kevin Gallacher, Simon Garner, Graeme Le Saux and Robbie Savage all make media appearances from time to time.

I read somewhere recently that Jason Wilcox runs Martial Arts classes in and around Manchester.

NAH!!! Its just political correctness gone to extreme again. British people have always made fun of themselves and still do on the Terraces (sorry seating area). How many Burnley fans get upset at being refered to as a dingle. Probably loads but they wouldn't call it an insult. Do i get insulted at Harry Enfield doing the northern git of the year show....nope. How many scouser's have taken insult at a curly black perm and matching tash....not many. Quite righly though racism has been stamped out largely at football grounds though. Many older rovers fans who have stood in the Blackburn end could tell a tale or two about racism but people who are insulted at being mimicked or stereotyped should basically lighten up.

Some people find things funny and others don't. Quite clearly you are not insulted by being called a Sheepshagger has you have chosen it as your forum name. Therefore you may find some humour in that. Maybe other's from Wales may have a different opinion though?

We all accept that other people find different things funny, but you have to understand that this is a forum for all races, social backgrounds etc. You need to be careful that what you say won't offend somebody!

But that's the point i'm making mate. Some people are far too easily offended these days. Americans call us limey's, Aussies call us Pomies but are we banging on the doors of the race relations board?......one thing for sure though if i refered to a person from an ethnic minority using a similar term like Taffy, Paddy, Jock, limey, frog, kraut,Spik etc then i wouldn't hear the end of it would i. The reason being of course these people jump on the racist bandwagon with the smallest complaints abusing the system set up to defend them in the first place.
