Football Director, Paul Simon*

Post by Gibbon » Thu Jan 05, 2017 7:16 pm

DOF appointed - or FD as they've chosen to call it. I'm assuming it's the same thing.

Coyle's view.

*His name's not really Paul Simon, it's Paul Senior. Hopefully he'll be a bridge over troubled water anyway.

I prefer Art Garfunkel anyway.

Fair enough. I do think we needed a few more football people with expertise knocking around the boardroom. Now about that central defender...

I can see this being a good appointment. We need someone to tell Coyle he has no transfer fund.

i'm optimistic and i'm happy to give him the benefit of the doubt

Sounds like he did an alright job at Sheffield Wednesday, helping them strengthen to the point of Play Offs last year and on course for top half this season. I know he is not responsible for all the good, but if i'm honest, i really cant see this season being any worse than it has been.

Clearly this is another disastrous decision by Venky's and further proof that dark forces are masterminding the destruction of Blackburn Rovers.

SIMON OUT!!!

Meanwhile, over on BRFCS, Moon has scoured the LET comments and quoted the following friend-of-a-friend anecdote...
Sorry to be a killjoy but I would just hold back on the euphoria on the appointmnent of Paul Senior.
When I read about his appointment I phoned a contact of mine who supports the Owls.
He informed me that Senior had been sacked at Sheffield because he led them up the garden path about his past achievements.
He also told me that he is married to a woman called Gates who uses her maiden name because of her football agency work.
You have it as I have it.
BRFCS has of course taken this as irrefutable truth.

The amateur sleuthing going on over there is hilarious to read through.

Re: Senior:
So far, the club has paid more to a guy to bring in players, than they have paid to bring in players.

Kinda like spending your last dollar to buy a new wallet.

Senior resigns
Paul Senior has today resigned from his role as Director of Football and Operations.
The club would like to thank Paul for his efforts and wish him well in his future endeavours.

Paul would like to go on record by wishing Tony Mowbray, the club's loyal and hard-working staff and fantastic fans the very best good fortune forward.

Yeah, that's pretty much the kinda guy he came across as. Slippery.

Or alternatively, he was doing us a favour by removing one of our largest non-playing staff wages.
