Fulham v Rovers, Tuesday 14th March 2017, 7.45pm

Post by mcteeth » Tue Mar 14, 2017 1:23 pm

Although this is a bit of a free hit as it's our game in hand it's got a lot riding on it for both teams. A win for Fulham puts them in the play off positions and a win for us puts us out of the relegation zone.

Although I was happy with a point at Norwich, given how the game panned out if we'd have taken all 3 I think we could go into this one without any sense of pressure. It's certainly the harder of the two matches and Fulham are probably the form side of the division.

I'll be there tonight so will be delighted with anything other than a loss.

I hope you leave Craven Cottage in a good mood!

We expect a full report following the match. ;)

Funny one as Fulham is probably the away ground I've seen Rovers most at and I remember for a long time not really seeing us ever lose there, probably about 5 seasons on the spin, but we've lost the last 2 from memory at least. But we have some relegation pedigree there, I was there in 2009 when we came back from 1-0 to win 1-2 with Santa Cruz and then Roberts scoring in the 85th minute. That was a great game to be at, so anything similar to that would be amazing.

I've also accepted that Cairney is obviously going to score

I'd be well pleased with a draw. its more important we beat Preston on saturday.

it'll be interesting to see the team, defense especially. If Hoban and Mulgrew are both available, how do you get the two of them and Lenihan (who's probably been one of our better players this season) in the team. Conway should be back too, which would be good as Elliot Bennett didnt have an amazing game at Norwich.

I'd still start Feeney, and potentially have Mahoney as an impact sub.

You drop Lowe, I've been saying it all season. Or put him at right back. Whoever plays there is going to have a tough time against Sessegnon who seems to be a bit of wonder kid at the moment.

I know, it's carved in stone. I thought he was pretty naff at Norwich too.

Mahoney is great but he was utterly shagged after 20 minutes and only played the second half, not sure he's got 90 minutes in him yet for the first team.

To be fair, I never think Guthrie is anything special, just an average midfielder that has good and bad days.

A point would be a great result, a win would be unprecedented. Getting Gallagher and Conway back in the lineup is a pretty good idea.

I wouldnt drop Nyambe, he's got a better chance of matching Sessengnon for pace. He's only going to get better with more games too.

I actually prefer Guthrie on the ball to most, he's a better passer than Akpan, but you know he's not going to play every game

it's a toss up between Gallagher and Graham, but i reckon Graham will play

so...

------------------Steele--------------------
Williams---Hoban---Lenihan----Nymabe
Conway---Mulgrew--Guthrie-----Feeney
---------------Emnes-----------------------
---------------------Graham----------------

Echo all of that mceeth. Craven Cottage is also my most visited away ground, I'm on my way there tonight, and I too was there for the dramatic turnaround that got us out of the relegation scrap under BFS, and might I add that the eventual win that night was entirely down to the up-and-under tactics employed in the 2nd half; how exciting was it being behind the goal when Roberts scored the winner, (albeit it wasn't pretty)? I can still clearly hear 'Der der der der Jason Roberts', sung to the tune of 'Reach Up (Papa's got a brand new bag)' in my mind's ear. One of the greatest ever Rovers memories for me.

Yes, Cairney will score - may as well get pissed off about it now so we don't have to later
