Make hay while the sun shines.
Here is Rovers' schedule the remainder of November: @Bury, @Oxford U., Bristol, @Blackpool. Teams that currently sit 24th, 10th, 15th, & 13th.
Time to start racking up some points against teams that sit lower on the table than Rovers. Bury was utterly destroyed in worthless cup match. Doesn't say much about them, or their ability in league play, but sitting 24th in League One certainly does.
We may have a run later in the season against lesser competition than these, but we need to put up some points this month, & I mean a curly number, not straight or round ones. No matter three games are on the road (where Rovers are 3-2-2), we aren't a great team in front of the home fans, anyway (4-2-2).
Rovers need to get 'er done now, December begins much tougher.

By the end of November ,what will be the ratio of home games played against away games? There seems to be an imbalance, or is it my imagination?

8 games at home played, 7 away games played. 3 away games coming up with 1 home game. So grand total is 9 games home, 10 games away.
Honestly, if Rovers want to make a statement on intent for top 2, they win all 4.

Glad you said it; I was afraid to be that bold.Thorisgodpoo wrote: ↑Fri Nov 17, 2017 1:49 am

Haven't we so far tended to do a little better against the better side in the league and struggled with the so called lower placed sides?
I know that isn't 100% the case but has been somewhat apparent, either yes we need to keep picking up wins.
And I'm going to Oxford

It's quite ludicrous that I'm concerned about the Bury match, but our record against the bottom teams is abysmal - and has been for a couple of seasons.
I believe it's connected to our casual attitude on the pitch - our players still believe they are too good for this league.

I think they are starting to acknowledge the work they need to out in to get top 2. And they can't repeat that performance of the Checkatrade Trophy match they had in early October.

Re: Make hay while the sun shines.
A third of the season gone, and we're going along nicely just behind the early frontrunners. There's really no need to earmark games as key matches. Adding pressure and expectations isn't going to help anything. Between now and the end of the season, we'll probably lose some games we don't think we should, but then we'll win some we thought we wouldn't. And so will the teams around us. But I notice we've got the third best goal difference in the league at the moment, and are only 1 goal over the best defensive record. We've won twice as many as we've lost, we're putting together a nice unbeaten run, and it feels the best it's been for us for a couple of years.

Agree, roverthetop...The season started craptastically, with zero points out of six. Since then, the squad has come together, Mowbray & staff have devised good game plans, and Rovers have won 60% of games.
Sans injuries, we'll be fine.

This streak worked out far better than anticipated- and we've got an excellent opportunity to pick up even more 3's the next couple of games.
24 points out of our last 30-- this is exactly what we needed. I feel very encouraged.
