Great result, just what we needed and a good scoreline too, not a 1-0 squeaky bum time match. Sounds like the lads went in there full of confidence.

We were absolutely outstanding today, without a doubt our best performance of the season. From the first minute to the last the lads were at it. Bennett was a revelation in the middle alongside Smallwood. Their pressing and tempo set the tone for the entire team. Every player today was an 8/10 at least. Can’t speak highly enough.

As you can tell I’m slightly excited after that win :hyper:

Watching Southend v’s Fleetwood today. Will hopefully be able to see Amari’i Bell today.
Very tidying game. Played well, defended well and linked up with the winger well.

Progress looking good with Rovers. With the injury to Chapman i did fear we would struggle but thankfully the lads have shown a great team spirit and if anything they have improved. Other results were kind today also so the alcohol is going to taste extra good tonight.

Excellent performance, fully deserved and gave a statement of intent to Shrewsbury which was really important.

Really pleased to see Graham get into double figures already too.

So after the 24 hour no complaint rule, time for the positives and negatives.

Negatives first. Dominic Samuel is trash as a winger. When he is forward, he is a good target to put something in the box, but really the whole match he was shut down by either fouling or close marking. He didn't track back much, which I would have to assume that was the tactics of the match. The next negative (which I can't really consider it negative nor positive) is Craig Conway. Let's be honest, dude is about flat out average on good and bad days. For this league, that is a good thing because consistency is something this club needs now. But when Rovers get promoted, they will really need to look elsewhere for a winger. Last negative I have is Joe Nuttall, I don't want to berate the guy because he is trying, but it's starting to look like he was a flash in the pan.

And now the glowing positives. Honestly, everyone had a great game. Dack shows what the next level can look like for this club. Graham benefits indefinitely from his presence. Bennett in the midfield with Smallwood showed some real fight, very scrappy. Nyambe is progressing week after week, showing what potential he can have. Mulgrew grabbed another brace for his score record, Downing had a good game. Williams is starting to look motivated to keep his place if Amari'i Bell comes over. Armstrong was rather impressive in his sub appearance, reminded me a lot like Chapman with better attacking positioning. Lewis Travis getting the call over Tomlinson means something to me, and even then he did pretty well.

Good stuff, Thor.

Honestly, I wondered why Reading let go of Samuel.

Shrewsbury keeper Dean Henderson has been banned for three games as a result of him throwing items back into the Rovers end after the Mulgrew winner from the penalty. He has also been fined £2000. Two sides to every story of course and maybe Rovers should be fined for the crowd disruption. As for Henderson well he denied the claim of improper conduct which was a big mistake and this probably led to the ban and fine. Shrewsbury would do well not to pursue the case further. I have seen footage of the incident and the Rovers fans were being there usual selves not unlike many home supporters and baiting the opposing keeper. If he was older a wiser he wouldnt have reacted or complained about objects thrown onto the pitch. He lost it though. He reacted by throwing the objects back into the stand. He is young and by all accounts a very good keeper currently on loan from Man United. His contract at United is up in the summer so perhaps a good time for Rovers to put a bid in for him!.... :D

Some absolute cretins amongst the Rover's fans, but throwing something back into the crowd was an act of ridiculous stupidity. It could have hit ANYONE.

That's cos you're an absolute cretin ;)

You can share his frustration and I'm sure I'd be tempted but as JLS says, you could have someone's eye out with that. Probably that 10 year old who has just finished their chemo after a 2 year battle with cancer and has been taken to a match for the first time in years now they are well enough. And they only had one eye or something already.

They could injure the goalkeeper by chucking a bottle at him.

If no Rovers fans threw atuff at the keeper, he wouldn't have had cause to retaliate. Our fans were the instigator of the problem, we should get a bigger punishment than Shrewsbury.

Or the club (and police) could just find those responsible and ban/charge them.

None of which excuses the GK’s behaviour.

Someone has commented on a Shropshire newspaper website that the Rovers fans who where seen throwing items have been banned. Probably been caught on cctv. The items thrown looked flimsy at best though one might have been a coin. Henderson just lost it launching some of the items into the crowd not in any particular direction. He seems a committed individual from his twitter account and to say he is only on loan he has taken Shrewsbury's challenge for promotion like he is a life long fan. He recently had his head shaved for a charity. His appearance has changed because of that and I thought he was a different keeper to the one who faced Rovers in the drawn game at their ground. He was the one who pushed Smallwood in the back when was trying to retrieve the ball after Rovers equalizer.
