Good news tonight with Darragh Lenihan playing 90 mins for the U23's win. Two trialists also played in that game. One from Arsenal the other from Liverpool. Is there no transfer window for U23's ? Hopefully more good news to come Saturday with Rovers starting another unbeaten run with a win against Oldham. So far Tony Mowbray hasnt bigged up the opposition yet so maybe he thinks we can win this game.

Mowbrays midfield selection should be interesting this afternoon.
Choose any from Payne, Conway, Bennett, Travis, Smallwood, Evans (hopefully not!) and even Mulgrew.
Any suggestions?

If Mulgrew is fit he has to start in defence. Otherwise Smallwood and Bennett would be my first choice for central midfield.

So if Charlie plays in the back four (his favoured position), who would you drop?

Good question. I’d stick with Downing and Mulgrew at centreback because they’ve proven they have an excellent partnership. Then it’d be a toss-up between Bell and Williams, but I’d be inclined to drop Bell to the bench and treat it as a position that’s Williams’ to lose.

*edit - just seen this from Mowbray.

I'm guessing a return to winning ways after our hiccup against... (who? I've already forgot?!) We need all 3 today.

Back to the usual back 4 I'm assuming. Bennett and Smallwood in the middle. Bell left and Payne right I'm assuming.

Unless Stillgrowling is right and it's a back four of Nyambe---Downing---Williams----Bell?

With that line-up, I'd be tempted to experiment with a back three and two wingbacks.

-----------------Raya---------------------
-----Downing--Mulgrew--Williams-----
Nyambe--------Smallwood----------Bell
-------Payne---Bennett----Dack--------
----------------Graham------------------

But...

Rovers down 1-0, Oldham striker individual brilliance. Getting around Nyambe and Smallwood to slot it in.

Really need to get scoring now.

There's the double, same striker. Rovers down 2-0. Where is the magic?

With Wigan and Shrewsbury not winning their games at the moment, we really need to get the 3 points here! Come on Rovers!!!!

Need to sneak one before half time. Then 2 more in second half.

Long balls don't work. Crossing doesn't work, anything in the air doesn't work. It will be interesting to see what the changes are.

Graham hasn't been very effective at all, Bell and Williams on the left is very defensive, and i dont feel like it is very effective when you need goals. Payne is a work horse, Nyambe is looking like he is taking a dip in form. Overall, this seems like the reality check Rovers have been dreading for.
