Should have loaned someone else.
Yup, definitely. We'd be getting excited about winning the PL if we had.

Well I'd definitely rather be winning the PL than League 1, that's for sure!

Rovers are making the most of the hand they’re dealt. I have no gripes about the team, the effort, or TM.

You're forgetting that it isn't luck of the draw, but that you make your own fortune in football. We are where we are because we put ourselves there....

And the point about Graham and those getting excited about him, is that it's a long fall from the kind of player we used to get excited about, in a very short space of time.

Yeah, but we’re a long way away from where we were when we had those players. We’re a league one team and Graham is an excellent player to have in our position.

He was good in the championship too mind. :D

Not as good as those whom we let go, and ultimately one of the contributing players to our relegation.

Can't we just be happy for now. Next season hopefully in the championship we can berate the players for how shite they are at a slightly higher level?

NO WE CAN'T! We can only be happy if the club is matching our past achievements! Players can only be deemed decent when measured against the very best we've ever had. Hurray! :hyper: ;)

Well to be fair Darth, you're generally pretty good at the berating.... ;)

I just don't think there's a great deal to be celebrating that we're doing well at the lowest level of competition we've played at in my lifetime, not in singing the praises of a player who, while decent, was the result of an odd choice to downgrade by a poor manager and who wasn't able to contribute enough to keep us up. Same goes for all the players who were in that relegation team, Mulgrew et al.

It’s almost like we’re discussing the current government. :o

The football landscape has changed beyond recognition since we won the Prem - we will never be able to compete with the top clubs over a period of time. We could conceivably do a Leicester, but that's about the best we can hope for in the future and I see little point in comparing the present team with the 1995 squad.
Looking several years down the line I think a European superleague is inevitable, one can get to Barcelona faster than Bournemouth these days and if the millionaires of United, City and Chelsea were to play in Europe week in week out, that would give hope for the likes of Rovers, Nottm Forest, the Sheffields etc etc.
Sadly I think I might be sitting in the great grandstand in the sky when that comes about, but one can hope.

You're right I really wish we had Lowe and Steele instead of Graham

The squad/team we have now would beat our team from last season. Just need to keep progressing each season. If we go up add a few of the best league 1 players to the squad. Premier league players on loan and we would be fine in championship.

Did you see Lowe for Birmingham the other day. Giving the ball away leading to the other teams goals. Amount of time we saw that at rovers.
