Have the squad numbers been announced? I know that Armstrong is 7, but that's all.
Given the season is already underway...

Just that no one seems to have posted a full list. I can way until Saturday and buy a programme, but was expecting Mulgrew to take 5 and Dack/ Lenihan to get 1-10 numbers

Yes I did, but didn't realise that was a full list of changes.Have to admit that I don't understand the squad number policy. Can the players change if they want ? I see Hart has been 'demoted' and was expecting Mulgrew to insist on the no. 5 shirt.

Surely being club captain should have some privileges?

I imagine some players have favourite numbers, and some aren't bothered. I guess they can always ask, hence new boy Palmer being 45.

I would have thought there was some prestige/pride having a no. 1-11 shirt.

Is there a limit? Can you ask for a number over 100?

Frankly, who gives a flying fuck what number anyone gets? It's only a marketing ploy so that clubs can charge parents even more when selling replica shirts. :yeahright:

After a little bit of research, in certain circumstances it seems you can.
Argentinian Sergio Vargas wore number 188 for Universidad
Adolfo Bautista, when playing for Guadalajara, wore number 100 under special dispensation from the Mexican Football Federation
Chilean striker Marco Olea wore number 111 for Universidad de Chile during the 2005 season.
During the 2012–13 Liga MX season, Víctor Perales and Luis Ángel Morales of Guadalajara wore numbers 143 and 163, respectively.

Tugay Kerimoğlu wore the number 94 on his 94th and final cap for Turkey against Brazil in 2007.[51]

Watched a prog about Shearer last night - when he got to Newcastle he asked for the no. 9 shirt. Les Ferdinand wasn't over pleased about it, but gave it up.
