Oh good grief...

You risk a RC at 90+4?!? Blackburn had ‘em on the run. Oh well, solid effort & great comeback

Lenihan suspended for Saturday and Williams 3 game ban I’m assuming.

Since I haven't seen the match, I will go based off what I heard on the broadcast on iFollow. 1st half was dreadful, lucky that we got out of it down by 1. Second half was more like the Rovers we were used to, attacking possession style offense. Bit unfortunate to give up that goal in the added time, seems to be a reoccuring theme thus far. Rodwell had an okay match from their account, and Rothwell had a great game and able to be relied upon in these situations.

Overall, great to see Rodwell get a run out. Perfect test match for him to see if he has it still. I will wait until I can see the recast of it on iFollow before I make any assumptions.

Since it’s one of the few matches I can watch this season, I was possibly the only Rovers fan genuinely excited before kick off. I’m a bit deflated now but it was a very exciting game especially towards the end, and we put up a good fight against PL side. Mowbray also did well to get us back in the game, and his subs made a definite impact.

Despite conceding 3, Raya was excellent and made an incredible save to keep out a downwards header that looked destined to go in which kept us in the game.

Bell looks slightly out of his depth still, being caught out of position numerous times. Sticks out like a sore thumb regularly.

Rodwell looked like he had a point to prove which is encouraging, demanding the ball constantly and did nothing wrong.

Palmer looked a bit lost at times.

Armstrong was nuisance with his runs and constant pressing but his finishing needs some work.

Brereton was played on the wing but showed glimpses of skill and definitely looks comfortable at this level.

Rothwell, Reed, Lenihan and Nyambe were all solid.

Conway was a machine in midfield, constantly organising and pressing. He really drove the team forward, and made his goal himself.

As for Williams, I’m gonna need to see that red card again before I can comment :D

Sphero, good comments.

Everything I read about the RC, Wilson was going to score. Why the defending broke down & we put ourselves in that predicament at 90+4, no clue.

Suspensions for bookings only apply in the competition they're picked up in from this season - ie 2 bookings in the LC = 1 LC match ban. I'm not clear on whether Williams was sent off for a second yellow card or a straight red for a weird and tenuous interpretation of the "denying a clear goalscoring opportunity" rule - either way that's just a one match ban.

Good news, I should have come back to edit my post as Rich Sharpe clarified the Lenihan booking on Twitter. From what was reported it was a straight red for Williams I believe which I always thought was a 3 game ban. But seems to be a 1 game ban.

Depends what the red card is for - violent conduct or dangerous play = 3 game ban. Denying a clear goalscoring opportunity = 1 game ban. The Sky sports video only shows the one angle at full speed, but I'd appeal the decision - it's clearly unsporting behaviour and plainly idiotic to pick the ball up because you've lost your footing. But I'm not sure how it can be regarded as an obvious goalscoring opportunity? Should have just been a yellow card.

Good to know. I'd be surprised if we appeal it. Mulgrew is back for Saturday so it's a suspension we can cope with.

Have to agree with Mowbray I thought their pen was very soft.

It's a silly card to take. All he needed to do was fall on the ball when he lost footing, and grabbed as he went down. He gets the red because he stayed on his feet and starting running with like it was American Football.
