Lies, damn lies and statistics...

Post by Rover the Top » Tue Mar 04, 2008 11:20 am

Some pointless figures regarding our season so far:

Out of 14 games against the sides in the bottom half of the table, we've won 11, drawn 2 and lost just 1. Surprising, since we generally expect to do badly against struggling sides. However we've only beaten one of the other sides in the top half of the table, drawing another 7 and losing 6 games.

We've managed to pick up 19 points having conceded the first goal in a game, which I believe is more than any other PL side has managed. This might have something to do with us conceding first in 16 games, though. However in the 9 games where we have scored the opening goal, we've gone on to win 7 of them, only giving up the win away at Everton and Villa.

You'll all be pleased to know there's no charge for this fascinating information...

It's noticeable that it's mainly the crap teams that don't get kicked: Derby, Reading, Fulham, Birmingham, Liverpool...

I don't think Derby ever have enough of the ball to warrant anyone kicking them, do they?

Yep, I agree. The league table is a complete waste of time. We should ignore it from now on. Plus, who cares what the score is at the end of the match. It's just another unnecessary stat. And nothing to do with the previous game, or the next one. In fact, who gives a shit who is actually playing, it's all just names and numbers, we just want a game of football...

So if we score it may not count? I can't see that working.

we can hammer breezblock wanderers 4.1 and sneak a 1.0 win in geordieland but could get our arses kick by fulham at the weekend which i hope does not happen but footballs a funny old game after all, thats why wimbledon beat liverpool in 87 cup final and millwall play in uefa cup lol few years ago, anythings possible otherwise manchester city wouldnt of dropped 2 divisions in the 90s and scum utd playing in the old division 2 in the 70s the list is endless, 11 v 11 @ the end of the day, if lucks with u then your a winner.
