Although Mowbray signed a couple of gems in Dack and Smallwood his other signings have really under performed. If it was left to Whittingham, Gladwin, Hart and Samuel for example we would have been no where near promotion. The loan market made the difference to Rovers challenge for promotion. Big thank you to Chapman, Armstrong, Payne and Antonsson.

The loan signings are ALSO his signings

Is it really a surprise that the majority of players you can sign permanently for pennies or nothing are not as good as the ones available on loan from bigger clubs for just a few months?

There are pros and cons to both contract signings and loans.

Mowbray'a comments were interesting about how he is particular about the type of characters he signs and togetherness that's developed with the squad this season. He likes to meet the players beforehand to get a sense of what they're like as a person.

The priorities feel like a central midfielder to work well with Smallwood. A striker that offers different qualities to Graham. Also a wide attacker and I suspect he probably is working on doing deals for Chapman and Armstrong if possible.

Any scuttlebutt on the availability of players on teams dropping to League 1? I would imagine Sunderland’s best, even if they were available (McGeedy, Grabban, et al), would be too expensive.

One thing I have seen comes not from us but from the Hibs scuttlebutt. Hopefully this tweet thing works!

Rovers to offer £6 million to Standard Liege for Axel Witsel. I heard it from "a source".

That was when he was still a young pup! Now, he's clearly not worth 6 million, but wants to leave the failure that is the Chinese money pit and recut his teeth in English football.

I didn't know Liege was in China.

How did they move it out of China? That's a lot of soil to shift.
