He wouldn't be cover, he would be a starter. He is much better than Evans, and probably on the same level, if not, better than Smallwood. He can pick out a long ball and has great vision.

I hope that is a rumor because he doesn't seem to wow me. Seems overpriced. Would rather have a winger or bid that on Wil Trapp for that matter.

According to QPR fans he’d be a big loss to them. He’s an influential player for them.

Well he scored 5 and got 12 assists last season. That’s pretty impressive.

I guess the only thing that comes as an oddity is that he’d be in competition with Dack, Palmer and Rothwell.

It’s nice to know we’ve got some cash to throw about but we really could use another winger and defender as well if you’re being greedy.

Could be a busy day for Rovers.

Maybe Mowbray is thinking he’ll have to play Dack in a striker role.

Aren’t they under Embargo from January? I can’t see tgem being able to source a replacement in this window, and you don’t sell your key players when you have no real way of replacing them.

We’ve bid 4m for Luke Freeman from QPR. Attacking midfielder.

Late yesterday evening it was being reported that Blackburn Rovers had launched a laughable £4million bid for Queens Park Rangers midfielder Luke Freeman
Very odd to say our bid is laughable given that there has been previous interest from WBA, Middlesbrough and Sheff Utd at £3m and we've gone a £1m further.

Maybe they laughed even more at those other bids?

Can't really have a go at fans of other clubs overrating their players, many of us do just the same. Not mentioning any names... ;)

I wasn't having a go at anyone...

Four different Championship clubs have independently lodged interest in Freeman below £5m. Given the scouting networks and general transfer market workings across clubs it suggests that that is a realistic valuation of the player, and QPR paid £350k 18 months ago to sign him. He had a good season last year in terms of assists it's been anut otherwise has had a middling Championship career to date at Bristol City and QPR.

Granted teams may be looking to capitalise on QPR being in breach of FFP and under an embargo.

You said it was "very odd". That's generally used as a criticism...

QPR haven't sold for any of those bids, so they're clearly not realistic valuations. It may be what teams feel he'd be worth a punt for, but it's not enough to get QPR interested in selling. And their valuation is the one that matters.

How much would we say was reasonable for Dack, for instance?

If a club doesn’t want a player to leave, you have to offer over the odds to try and tempt them. He’s their player, and the seller sets the selling price.

The real price is what he’s worth to them

It's odd given the facts stated in my post, the subjective opinion of a fan writing the article is an opinion their entitled too. But the fact is we've come in with a 33% increase on previous interest of 3 other clubs, two of which are clubs with sizable stature in this division. It would also represent a large profit considering what they paid 18 months ago.

In the context a bid below £3m from us would have been laughable, but at least we're heading in the right direction.

Gibbon is right that a players valuation is ultimately what a buying club is willing to pay to secure the player. We clearly feel that his valuation is around £4m as a player, which isn't dissimilar from 3 other teams. If QPR want £10m we're clearly going to walk away as we don't have money to burn, that doesn't make our bid laughable.

Richarlison doesn't scream £50m but Everton were rich enough to pay it.

Dack is unproven at this level currently but he is a couple of years younger and comes with more potential given his goals, assists and his player of the year awards. I don't think his valuation would be that dissimilar from clubs looking to get a good deal, around the £4/5m mark, he's been subject to bids in the past of around £2m when at Gillingham and we managed to get him for £750k.
