LET reporting Rudy is in talks with a premier league club. So how much then should we be asking for him. 4.5 million has be suggested for this seasons top scorer so far. If Hull were going to pay 12 million for Rhodes maybe a figure over 6 million should be more appropriate.

You would think that somewhere in the 5+ million range is where they're trying to go for. I don't feel you sell him for less than 7.5 million preferably, shouldn't reject silly money.

I'd let him go. Unlike Rhodes, Gestede only scores because Marshall is brilliant, and Conway was brilliant last season. He's incapable of creating, has a poor first touch and can't beat a man (granted, Rhodes can't do the latter either). Especially if there is talk of selling him for 10 times the amount we paid for him

Rumour is the premier league club in for Rudy is Crystal Palace. I was wondering regarding the FFP are we allowed to bring in a player as part of a transfer deal?

Only trouble I have with selling Gestede is you're really banking on Brown and Varney to step up and also a youth squad member or two to rise up as well. I would love to get rid of him for a ridiculous profit but if Rovers are able to get a player after the sale, then it has to be a dominant midfielder, not a striker.

Gestede is good - I don't think we'll need four players to fill his shoes.

Rovers confirm Palace have make a bid for Rudy but according to Sky Sports he's not happy with a £6m price tag

I think 6 million is pretty cheap for him.

To say he's our top scorer, I'd say we need him more than we need £6m. But, if he wants to move up then you can't really blame him. If he's genuinely unhappy, then keeping him may not be worthwhile if he's going to sulk. Plus, we reportedly paid around £200K for him last year so that's a massive profit. We could go and buy 30 more of him with the money.

Except we can't cause we aren't allowed to buy anyone, and the 6 million we would make on him would just be swamped up by the debt. Thanks FUP.

If we are about to lose Rudy Gestede what about a swap deal plus cash involving Glenn Murray. He beat Jordan Rhodes to top scorer in this league a couple of seasons ago.

I thought we WERE allowed to buy people - but only if they're on proportionally less and cost a lot less than whoever we get rid of?

We can only bring another player in if we have less than 24 established players. If by selling him we end up with less, then we can being someone in, but for less money and less wages. So why bother selling?

I can think of a few players over the years who prove that more money doesn't equal better were rovers are concerned.... but I can't see the margins in letting Gestede go, unless he's going to throw his toys out of the pram.
