Gordon Greer, or Bordon Beer for you non ventriloquists out there, has signed a one year deal.

Good signing in my opinion. Fucking sick of the negativity surrounding his age - absolute bollocks. How old were Craig Short and Henning Berg when we last got promoted?... This is a player who played a good number of games last season and captained a team to the edge of the Premiership. If you're good enough age is merely a number.

I'd normally be concerned about his age, but from what I've read, his strengths are his reading of the game, his positional play, and his leadership then he's probably good for another year.

The only thing that goes as players get older is speed, which players don't necessarily need, especially at CB. Skill, sharpness and mentality don't necessarily change, and if he's got it then it's a decent signing.
We'd all take Tugay back, and he's nearly 100. :D

Well, Short was 32, Berg 31 I think. But perhaps the more important difference is that both were seasoned top flight performers dropping down a division, and continued showing that quality with us after we were promoted. Without trying to prejudice this spell with us, Greer simply isn't of the same calibre and he's significanty older.

Damn you and your pesky facts!

Decent signing, we need a centre back following Hanley's departure and he has good experience at this level. If we get a decent season out of him, job done.

Been a good player for Brighton over the last couple of seasons and is certainly an improvement on Kilgallon and i would say Ward too.

Just a shame his rating on FIFA will fly down with him being 35 :(

I've watched him live a decent number of times for Brighton over the last couple of seasons and he was excellent, read the game well and is very composed on the ball.
