Tommie Hoban and Derrick Williams sign

Post by Ethiaa » Fri Aug 26, 2016 1:32 pm

Centre-half Hoban joins on a season-long loan from Premier League side Watford, whilst left-back Williams joins on a three-year deal from Rovers’ Championship rivals Bristol City.

Both players have been signed in time to be eligible for tomorrow's league match against Fulham.

That's cos you aren't reading the transfer speculation thread. It's also good news. If we were signing someone you'd heard of they'd have to be about 40 for us to be able to afford them.

Probably should know something about Williams given he has been playing in this league...

Definitely a good thing.

Which of them will be taking over scoring the own-goals, now that Duffy has gone?

Not sure what we paid for him since the fee was undisclosed, but seems to be a good bit of business by Bowyer if he was indeed sold for the 4 million the mirror reported. Can't wait until we play them, it will make those OGs more appealing.

Hoban played a lot during Watford's promotion campaign and would have played a lot more in the PL if it wasn't for injuries. Again, Williams was integral for Bristol City in their promotion campaign on the left of three CBs. Can play both LB and CB but Bristol City fans feel he was left wanting at this level. Still, very good to have as a squad player, certainly adds some needed depth.

I highly doubt we have a view to buy with Samuelson or Gallagher but i'm hoping with Hoban we do.

I'm encouraged by this bit of good news. At least Rovers are trying to find players.

I've only seen the highlights but apparently both played quite well which is encouraging.
