Portsmouth issued with winding up order from HM Customs

Post by SheepShagginRover » Wed Dec 30, 2009 1:36 pm

Just come up on SSN, sounds like they're in schmuck. Players unpaid again this week, transfer embargo still on Portsmouth.

It's a shame really. I feel sorry for their fans. I mean if it happened to us, I don't know what I would do.

The Premierleague also need to take a look at their policies; if the same rules were applied as with the footie league they'd probably have been docked about 60 points by now....

Looks like the non playing staff have now been paid at least.

Sol is suing them for not paying him £1.7m in bonuses.

Well yes and no. He may well be a cheeky twat, but he's only asking to be paid what a previous employer owes him. Granted - he could probably afford to waive that fee if he's been careful with his earnings so far in his career - but it's still a sizable amount of money that he's owed fairly and squarely.

I'd expect a previous employer to pay up anything that they owed me contractually, I'm not sure why a football club should get special dispensation.

A good article summing up Portsmouth's situation, if anyone's interested.

What a shame. It's interesting to note that paying for the website is a bigger priority than paying the players, though... :D
