I find the sackings of Di Matteo and Guidolin particularly baffling. Villa are just following our lead in how not to bounce back to the Premier League, but in some respects this may well make more sense depending on the replacement. You do get the feeling it'll probably be Steve Bruce.

Swapping Guidolin for Bradley is bizarre, but in the context of new American owners it makes perfect sense if you ignore his lack of European experience.

Steve Clarke to take temporary charge of Aston Villa - which could make an interesting game after the international break: Reading v Villa 18th October (Steve Clarke was of course recently sacked by Reading) !!!
