You are quite right MrB. I'm getting more disenchanted with football in general by the day. Too much money in the game as spoiled it.mrblackbat wrote:Cheer up Darth, it might never happen.

That's one name out of the running, albeit one that's only been mentioned a couple of times.

Here's an interesting one...
Tim Sherwood appointed director of football at struggling League One club Swindon Town.

Tim Sherwood appointed director of football at struggling League One club Swindon Town.
Not a demotion for the current bloke, definitely not. Sherwood's going to take on everything, but definitely not a demotionSwindon head coach Luke Williams, who signed a five-year deal in March, will remain in his role at the club, who are in the relegation zone after 16 games.
"This is one of the biggest appointments the club has ever made," chairman Lee Power told BBC Wiltshire.
"We're still a bit shocked that we've managed to persuade Tim to take it on.
"We're very mindful not to use the title 'manager' - it's not a demotion for Luke Williams. He'll be head coach still.
Power said that Sherwood will "head up all aspects, including transfers, the way we play, the formations and the picking of the team", implying a strong level of day-to-day involvement.
"A director of football is normally someone who doesn't put their tracksuit on and doesn't interact with the team - that won't happen here," said Power.

Re: Sack race
Seems an odd move for Sherwood, to be honest. Obviously struggling to get a job otherwise.
Re: Sack race
Or a bloke with a bit of power doing a mate a favour. Tim gets his name back into the spotlight without the pressure of being a 'manager', Swindon get a big name in to boost morale.mrblackbat wrote:Seems an odd move for Sherwood, to be honest. Obviously struggling to get a job otherwise.
Power continued: "Everyone knows Tim has been a friend of mine for 25 years. So there won't be a contract.
"It's a special relationship that we've had for a very long time - he definitely isn't coming for the money.
"Tim has had opportunities to work for two Championship clubs this year, that he has turned down."

Or you can read "Tim has had opportunities to work for two Championship clubs this year, that he has turned down." as in order to take a less pressured job because he doesn't have the bottle to prove himself as a championship manager.
Re: Sack race
Or... Venky's gave him a call following the departure of Paul Lambert and he didn't want to be anywhere near Rovers at the momentmrblackbat wrote:Or you can read "Tim has had opportunities to work for two Championship clubs this year, that he has turned down." as in order to take a less pressured job because he doesn't have the bottle to prove himself as a championship manager.

Wasn't just Rovers that he was courted by though.

Birmingham sack Gary Rowett...

Re: Sack race
Strange timing that. Up there in 7th, won at Ipswich last time out. Gives them time to get a replacement and let him bring a few players in once the window opens I suppose.

Re: Sack race
What a bizarre decision, he's done a great job there! Get him in at Rovers if Coyle goes.
Re: Sack race
The mind boggles.
Rowett would be an improvement on Coyle.
