Championship Playoffs
Incredible finish to the Watford v Leicester game. 2-2 on aggregate going into the final minute, Knockaert dives and wins a penalty for Leicester. Almunia pulls off a double save, ball goes down the other end and Watford score to put themselves through to Wembley. Almost like the Brentford game the other week!

And after all the bitching they did after Speedie was chopped in half at Wembley
Re: Championship Playoffs
Surprised Palace got through against Brighton, Brighton have got themselves 'ready' to be in the Premier League and possibly should have done better this year to get in the top two, can see this being a real set back for them and Poyet going in the summer.

If post-match press conference remarks are anything to go by, Poyet probably won't be there next season anyway.

Re: Championship Playoffs
We should have moved for Poyet instead of Berg. And instead of Kean.

Not sure why Poyet would have been treated any differently to Berg?

Re: Championship Playoffs
Not a safe assumption by any means. He'd have the same broken squad to work with, no transfer window, and would need time to get the team to adapt to his tactical approach. If we won games during that period, it would be more down to luck than design. And if not, there's no reason to think Poyet would be shown more patience by the board or the fans.Rovertheseas wrote:Because we might've won games...Rover the Top wrote:Not sure why Poyet would have been treated any differently to Berg?

Re: Championship Playoffs
I've been especially impressed by Poyet's managerial career to date, I'd have liked him to get the job, and I think he would have done better than Berg. Plus he ticks several Venky boxes with his South American links.
All opinion though and I guess we'd never know
Considering our circumstances, I think Bowyer is the perfect fit for the club as things stand. He's managed to put in two impressive shifts as manager in difficult circumstances this season, he knows the club back to front, and through his experiences as reserve team coach I imagine he has a very good idea of younger players who may be surplus to requirements at other clubs (as demonstrated by the excellent capture of Kane last season). There's just no reason to take a gamble on anyone else unless it becomes apparent that Bowyer can't cut it. Good luck to him.
