I think he could do a little more towards contrition to be honest. The fact that he describes it as 'an act of infidelity' for example. However he clearly can't offer the sort of apology that his detractors want (the ones that are ready to forgive, there are clearly some who never will in all situations) without changing his stance on the original offence.

Obviously its a much more severe example, but the Tookie Williams execution springs to mind - where he was judged not to show remorse for the people he was found guilty of murdering because he maintained his innocence throughout.

Perhaps he isn't contrite because his version of the events happens to be the true one, and he was wrongly convicted? He is appealing after all.

I know that if circumstances should happen that I was ever wrongly convicted of something, I'd continue to maintain my innocence.

Or maybe he is guilty, and is just a dick. Who am I to judge?

It's still a very interesting topic of debate, and one in which I believe the right answer is too difficult for many people to be able to take, despite it being the right answer.

Just realised that the same was said on the previous page....

It's still not too late to say the exact opposite, though...

Jess Eniss wants her name removed from the stadium if Evans plays for the club again. Good on her

I bet Oldham wish they had 30,000 people interested in what they were doing every week...

Yep, I wonder how many of those that signed the petition are in the 4.5k that attend regularly?

Doubt it's more than half of that, wouldn't be surprised if it was less than 1K

169,000 were against him signing for Sheffield Utd, I wonder how many of them signed the Oldham petition too.

Also, the woman behind the petitions works under a pseudonym. Anonymity is a lovely thing, isn't it? Have to admit, I'm not overly impressed with her twitter feed:- https://twitter.com/jeanhatchet
