Americans best the Netherlands!

Post by WacoRover » Fri Jun 05, 2015 9:47 pm

in the 89'.
Granted, it was just a friendly, but it's always amazing when Brad Guzan, and a bunch of college kids & b-teamers beat the #3 team in the world.

Woo-hoo, go USA! :D

How about taking down the #1 Germans?
Not so easy to scoff now, huh? ;)

Seriously, Bobby Wood might look good in Rovers blue & white!

Might I add, these results were obtained without Dempsey, Timmy Howard or Altidore. Young American squad looks promising!

Yeah, that's a decent result. Now if you can just get them to use the right terms when talking about the match... ;)

Hey, c'mon, I admit I'm the rookie... Rome wasn't built in a day, either.

Gotta admit, I've made progress since I first came on board Roverstalk! :D

To their credit and yours, most Americans who post on here seem to have adopted European terms so that I know what they're talking about.

On the whole though, It's bewildering to me that America has taken an established world sport and changed all the labels. :?

Yeah, don't you just hate it when the opposing soccer team on the field gains a shut-out because your goalshot was chalked out due to the line official's denial flag. :D

In retaliation I think we should have done the same with baseball and called it 'battyball' or something.

Softball was closer I guess. Though all I remember about it was the ball was not soft. At. All.

Ah, I misread that, thought you were following on from Hudson's American Football comment. (Yes I know you quoted Dan, but I skipped over reading it again).

The most confusing thing for Americans has to be that the World Cup includes other countries... :yeahright:
