O vento forte deitou a árvore abaixo!

How pleasing to see the most overated nation in the world dumped out of the tournament by a much criticised and yet far superior German side!

Thoughts on the game?

As predicted. Well, okay I didn't expect it to be 3-2, but I felt Portugal had flattered to deceive against weak teams in the group stages, and Germany had been harshly criticised for losing to a very good Croat side. (I'm actually thinking it will be Croatia v Holland in the final). Once the Germans dropped that useless left-back and put Lahm back on his wrong side, I felt they'd got enough to ride through safely. And the Madrid-bound Ronaldo has underwhelmed as I expected.

I can't recall a single Ronaldo contribution last night aside from generously shooting at Lehmann's hand so that Nuno Gomes could get the rebound.

I thought Nani should have come on earlier as he played well for the 10 minutes or so he was on.

A section of an interview one of the lads in OZ posted on http://www.theden.com.au :

Guillem Balague: What feeling have you got after the defeat?
Cristiano Ronaldo: What feeling?

Guillem: The one after being knocked out
Ronaldo: We didn’t expect this. We wanted to continue in the tournament, but we didn’t do enough. We weren’t strong enough

Guillem: The little details were won by Germany. You didn’t seem concentrated enough
Ronaldo: I didn’t do anything wrong. I did what I had to do but the team made mistakes and that is why we lost

Guillem: What now, Ronaldo, we are expecting an announcement
Ronaldo: Lets see in a couple of days. The tournament is over and I am going to reach an agreement

That's brilliant. Shame the rest of the interview didn't go the same way.
