Croatia Vs England

Post by roversmillsy » Mon Sep 08, 2008 8:03 pm

Played not so good against Andorra but still got a victory and if we play to our best I think we'll beat them, Even if the did the double over us in Euro 2008 qualifying. I want to know who you think will win and by what scoreline.

Croatia 1
Kovac

England 2
Gerrard
Joe Cole

I'm inclined to agree with The Rozmeister, it's a 0-0 hypefest.

So it'll be 1-1 then.

Will be a comfortable win at home for Croatia.

Yep, can't see any other outcome than a home win, and i don't think it will be that much of a battle to be honest.

In all honesty, with the state of the rest of our team's performances, i kind of agree with him (Don't tell anyone i ever said that)

The only thing I'd give Rooney at the moment is a seat on the bench with Defoe and Ashton up front.

I was agreeing with the lump it to Heskey part - Joe cole, or anyone else for that matter can take up the "rooney" mantle :)

Seems apparent to me that Joe Cole should start on the left, with Walcott, Young or Bentley on the right and Barry and A.N. Other (probably Lampard in Gerrards absence) in the centre.

I'd go for that, but the thought of agreeing that Lampard should be playing makes me want to cry. I'd love to run through a list of other players we should have in place of him, but the fact that none have been given a run out up to now means (to me at least) that shoving them in now would be an awful idea (See Carson).

Yet again i'm back to hating the way we've wasted friendlies as proper preparation games.

When was the last time we played to our best? 1996 against Holland? Easy victory for Croatia, whilst Capello continues to laugh at the FA's stupidity in paying him millions to do absolutely nothing.

Yep. Friendlies are just an excuse for the media to poke fun. We never take them as seriously as we should and it pisses me off.

I'd definitely start with Bentley on the right, Young on the left and leave Joe Cole on the bench to stew and aggress over why he hasn't been picked, so when we're 2-0 down in the 70th minute he can come on and score a hat-trick. :D
