Are Wales the Dingles of international football? Burnley fans like to gloat about meaningless things too...

I felt a bit sorry for Defoe, he didn't do much wrong in the first half, but there was that little going on behind him that he didn't get enough of the ball. Lampard was back to being crap, Walcott was a waste of time, and how many times does Brown have to show he's nowhere near good enough for England? I thought Barry was the pick of the starters, and Carrick and Milner both did very well when they came on. And Crouch's scoring record speaks for itself, I can't see how he can be left out.

I also thought Gerrard was largely crap. No where near his best.

And if you look at the alternatives, Barry should have been captain.

Terry...untrustworthy love cheat, lost the belief of his team mates, fans and from his recent perfomances, himself.
Gerrard...bar fighter, showed an AMAZING lack of judgement in getting into a crap bar fight, which by all accounts came about by him throwing his weight around like an egotistical tosser.
Rio Ferdinand...suspended under suspicion of being a drugs cheat.
Rooney...Granny Shagger.

Okay so the Rooney one was a joke, he was absolutely top class last night, and if he wasn't a striker I'd also say he was in with a shout. I just don't like strikers being captains, I think it can put them off their game, which is one thing we don't want to happen with Rooney.

Other than the captain issue...

Thought Baines did okay at left back, Walcott was showing his lack of games, Defoe had an off day and Brown made a couple of glaring mistakes at rightback. (Our problem position at the moment in my opinion)

Sean Wright Phillips was fantastic - as were Milner and Crouch. Why Crouch isn't first choice alongside Rooney I'll never know.

I'm not really arsed about friendly matches involving England.
