Surely in your book, mcteeth, him having a few drinks will have no effect on his performance levels whatsoever?

Well they do say form is temporary and class is permanent... :yeahright:

This isn't a Rooney dig either, I'd feel the same if Lowe was out trashed at 4am wearing his Rovers training kit. It's just a stupid thing to do.

But it's has been documented how easily Rooney's fitness suffers and the weight can pile on, if anything he should be extra vigilant with stuff like this especially in the twilight of his career.

But he shouldn't have any! It's terrible, these professional footballers thinking they have a real life aside from time on the pitch/on the training ground.

Real life?

Going into someone else's wedding and getting trashed till 5am and trying to play the piano is fairly strange behaviour. Doing it when you're him and in those circumstance is frankly ridiculous.

There's a million and one things he could have done with some of the other players in the squad that would have been far less irresponsible.

Whether you're just trying to rib me or even worse genuinely defending him as some kind of victim I really just don't understand.

Just to put it in deeply uninteresting context, I like many have a photo ID work pass on a lanyard and will go to the pub for drinks after work I always remove it when I leave the office due the company reputation, it is a very sensible and easy rule to follow. And that is just dealing with the stupidity of him wearing his training kit.

It wasn't someone he knew then? Explains the lack or shirt.

World Cup 2018 Squad Announced

Goalkeepers
Jack Butland, Jordan Pickford, Nick Pope.

Defenders
Trent Alexander-Arnold, Gary Cahill, Fabian Delph, Phil Jones, Harry Maguire, Danny Rose, John Stones, Kieran Trippier, Kyle Walker, Ashley Young.

Midfielders
Dele Alli, Eric Dier, Jordan Henderson, Jesse Lingard, Ruben Loftus-Cheek.

Forwards
Harry Kane, Marcus Rashford, Raheem Sterling, Jamie Vardy, Danny Welbeck.

Stand-by: Tom Heaton, James Tarkowski, Lewis Cook, Jake Livermore and Adam Lallana.

Seems a bit defence heavy to me, but some good young talent there.

Think it lacks a creative player in midfield... Would have taken the risk on lallanas fitness... Plus I'd have taken tarkowski and Bertrand instead of Cahill and young.

It lacks midfielders full stop. I suppose Delph and Young can also cover further upfield, but I'm struggling to see why he's taking 6 full backs. Not that it will make much difference.

I've got more faith in Southgate that a lot of our previous managers in recent times. We're going into a tournament with a clear plan and tactical system. He also is happily making the big calls and not pandering to the media, for instance dropping Hart.

It's hilarious the usual hacks like McNulty are questioning losing the 'experience', Hart's 'experience' at major tournaments is essentially being shit.

I do think he should have looked at bringing in Shelvey last minute, he is clearly the best passer we have to play in midfield and against Panama and Tunisia there's no need to play both Dier and Henderson as a more defensive pairing. Although I do think Loftus-Cheek is a very good player.

Cahill and Stones can count themselves lucky to be in there, I've still not really seen what all the fuss is about Stones and he is very error prone. On form alone Lascelles, Tarkowski, Mee and arguably even Dunk I'd have more confidence in.

It's exciting for once to go into a tournament with a young and energetic side with no real expectations.

We're going to play two on each side.

At least we've got someone in charge of picking two on each side (or not).
Spain haven't.
