World Cup Politics

That awkward moment when Boris Johnson is reminded Russia (USSR) boycotted Hitler's Olympics, but Great Britain didn't. And the England football team were ordered by the then Tory government to give the Nazi salute in Germany in 1938.

Russia won't be as exagerrated ... but how might the political politics play out? Thoughts?

(many thanks to the Blackpool BHS forum for producing this pic)

Of course the picture should be viewed bearing in mind that back then the nazi salute didn’t hold the historical weight that it does now.

Much like the Charlie Chaplin 'tache was a much beloved piece of facial wear, and nobody saw anything wrong with the Sanskrit swastika, which roughly translates to conducive to wellbeing.

We already know we won't be sending any Royals or Politicians to the World Cup - now we won't be sending any referees either.
