Films that are ace

Post by theadore » Fri Aug 22, 2008 9:38 am

Was planning an excellent sunday of great 80's films... when I realised that the two i'd chosen were 1979 and 1991.. :(. Never the less...

The Warriors

Prayer of the Rollerboys

Ha Ha fucking wiked! I just watched the trailers on youtube!! Those bad boys are being downloaded man, have you got anymore suggestions. I love that idea of the future being ruled by street gangs, ridiculous ones which run around in baseball kits etc.....

'The Warriors' is brilliant. Seen it many, many times. I really still couldn't tell you what happens, though. :-?

The Warriors is perhaps the worst film I have ever seen.

Absolutely terrible acting, a ridiculous storyline and absolutely pointless. Sorry.

Yeah it IS pretty shitty. But it's cheesy kitsch shit, which kind of makes it good.

Out of interest, and just so I can apply some sort of context to your judgements, can you please both list me 5 films that you like? :)

Yeah, I liked 'Warriors' purely for the fact it's so shit it's good.

I watched 'Felon' last night, starring Stephen Dorff and Val Kilmer. It was pretty good, one of those films you only need to see once but it was fairly enjoyable.

Silent Running is a great film from the 70's if you want something from that era

Pearl Harbour is not great or from that era and IS the worst film ever made

No it isn't. The Postman far surpasses it in the worst film ever made category.

I can't say if Pearl Harbor was the worst film ever, as I'd need to have seen it.

However, I do know that Ben Affleck needs acting school as he was terrible in that film, and that Cuba Gooding needed a bigger part as he's way better than Ben Affleck.

;)

Ah, while I feel in terms of quality they are similar, Pearl Harbour is longer (183 v 177), cost more to make, has pretensions to being historically accurate whilst being liberally spread with complete bollocks and cost much more to make. It's just worse. I'd chose to watch the postman any day. And it cost more to make.

Kevin Costner. Enough said.

And before you start with Ben Affleck, he was in some good stuff like Dogma. Also, he never played Robin Hood.

Costner's take on Robin Hood has to be one of the most original interpretations of a well-known character ever. :D Although it would be beaten if someone cast Jet Li as Jesus...

Ones that stick out for me are Battlefield Earth, Robin Hood prince of thieves, ANYTHING by George Lucas in the last 10 years...

I'm sure if I ever see Catwoman (Halle Berry taking on an evil COSMETICS COMPANY), or Guy (crappy stereotype) Ritchies Revolver, they would probably both find their way into the list too. And any Uwe Boll film.

Have to say - although there are more bad films in the world than idiots in Burnley, the truely terrible films are always the ones that you were looking forwards to and then leave the cinema with a taste in your mouth like a studio executive has shit in it. :-?
