Manchester restaurants!

Post by Gibbon » Thu Sep 14, 2017 9:54 am

So the wife is doing an overnight in Manchester today and is looking for somewhere nice to eat. Can anyone help with suggestions?

Not too expensive please, just favourite places preferably in the centre.

El Rincon de Rafa. Always and forever.

Also, why didn't you say? We'd have come and annoyed you (i.e. bought you a pint).

Cheers mate! But I'm not invited, it's a work trip. Next time we're up though!

In that case, she should go somewhere more expensive, she's only paying half as much. Grill on the alley.

I'm also a huge fan of the Armenian Taverna (http://www.armeniantaverna.co.uk/) but I'm aware it's kind of an acquired taste. One acquired by going to a lot of Italian restaurants in the 80s probably.

That looks really delicious. Her favourite used to be the big old Persian near the converted railway sheds. It shut a while ago though.

My knowledge of Mancunian eateries is limited by it being 20 years since I lived there, though I think Tampopo is still there.

Cheers for the help Rob, much appreciated.

How big expenses? Go to Manchester House and get the tasting menus....

There's a cracking Japanese place in Chinatown called Yuzu http://www.yuzumanchester.co.uk that does tonkatsu and the like and an even better sushi restaurant called Umezushi near the arena http://www.umezushi.co.uk.

Yuzu looks fantastic - she loves Katsu and the like. She's not big on Sushi though. (Madness, right?)

She's a director of her company, so she wont want to exploit the expenses too much.

Thanks for all the suggestions, particularly Dan, but she's ignored us all and gone for Rajdoot instead.

Next time I come up, I'm going to eat in every one of these fine establishments though. Possibly in the same day.

Is Rajdoot the place that had the Legionnaires outbreak earlier in the year?
