Poulter's not even made the shortlist...

Interesting first day at the Masters. 6 birdies and no bogeys from Sergio means he has a share of the lead, hope he can keep that sort of form up over the weekend. Good to see Fred Couples up near the top, too. There's a lot of big names made decent starts. And 14 year old Guan Tianlang is the leading amateur, at an impressive +1. I suspect he's going to be someone we hear a lot of in years to come.

Agreed, I'd read and heard that Tiger Woods was his practice partner and was giving him tips on playing the course now I've heard he's offered him advice and tuition too. No finer player to learn from, mistakes and all.

Woods may be disqualified after admitting he took a drop in the wrong place.

Only been given a 2 shot penalty. Not the first time he has been in trouble for putting his balls in the wrong place! I put a bet on Lee Westwood to win at 30's per-tournament. Come on Lee!

I suppose it's an adequate punishment considering how the actual offence affects the tournament. But I remember Parnevik and Roe getting disqualified from The Open for an honest mistake with their scorecards. It's a bit galling that Woods has been penalised less severely for technically the same offence, when this time it came from deliberately cheating. I sort of feel he should have been thrown out just for the attitude he's shown...

You're behind, bogey at 4, back at -1. He's now on the green at 6.

Ahh personally don't think he'll do it this year which is a shame, he looked bloody good until he had that bad luck hitting the flag pole

It will be anything but a shame if he misses out by just 1 shot. :D Every player gets an unlucky bounce now and then. But the rest take it on the chin rather than cheat to make up for it.

You just pick the most arrogant sportsmen and then follow them like a stalker through their declining years. ;)

Pftttt Schumacher still had it even in his declining years! As for Woods and maybe this year Rossi, it's quite admirable how they've been to the top, fell from grace but have managed to rebuild/prove they still have that quality that got them there in the first place

Chatting in work about who might win the masters... a friend made a casual 'Bernard Langer' joke to show how old he was... but damn the guy still has it.

Probably nt going to win but great performance none the less.
