Scott Wharton.
I did not see another thread started on him.
Just coming back from loan. I hope he be helpful as a 1st team defender in League 1.

Re: Scott Wharton.
We'll probably release him from his contract as that's what we seem to do with the academy players who show potential.

Re: Scott Wharton.
Besides, Wharton is being bigged up on the official site, which suggests to me that they're positioning him for a role in the team next season.

Re: Scott Wharton.
In the odd games he's had for the first team I thought he was excellent and should have been persevered with. If our regular cb pairing is going to be Mulgrew/Lenihan , Wharton would provide good cover, especially as Charlie tends to be a bit injury prone.

Re: Scott Wharton.
I'd consider playing Lenihan in Central Midfield with Mulgrew and Wharton as the central defensive pairing.

Mulgrew would be wayyyyy better in midfield if you were going to do that.

Dunno, speaking to Celtic fans, Mulgrew's best position is Central Defence.

Re: Scott Wharton.
I think from watching him, his best position is centre back. But, he's a much better midfielder than Lenihan, with a lot more class on the ball; so if we're going to play one of the three out of position, he's the one to move. Assuming, of course, he's still with us at the start of the season which I strongly doubt.
If you want Mulgrew in defence, we need to bring in a midfielder rather than push Lenihan there.

Re: Scott Wharton.
Fair enough, we'll have to wait and see what Mowbray chooses to do. I guess it depends on whether Lenihan, Wharton or Ward (I was forgetting Ward) can form an effective partnership.

Re: Scott Wharton.
Mulgrew has said on many occasions that his preferred position is centre back, and Lenihan also seems better at cb. Perhaps people are forgetting that we have the attacking force that is Corry Evans to come back.

I'd ditch Evans. League 1 still above his level....

Re: Scott Wharton.
I think Evans could be useful still.
