aaaaarrrrrrggggghhhh, not the flying monkeys!!! :(
although i can imagine they would be quite leathal in front of goal... and anywhere else for that matter!

as for a relatively sensible answer, i think most of the options would be in the other thread, but i don't think anyone but BFS has any idea who the shortlist would be. someone foreign and someone big ?

He'd certainly replace him on the injury list.

Villa fan in peace here.

If you're looking for a target man, why not go in for Marlon Harewood? Similar to Samba, just a more precise striker.

Raul Tamudo from Espanyol was linked, he's 31 but still very quick (better than 1 goal every 3 games in La Liga)

Peter Crouch was also be a good one who should work well with McCarthy or Roberts.

I wouldn't touch Owen unless it were a pay per play deal, not worth the risk otherwise.

The link covers Crouch and Tamudo with some footage of them in action. We've all seen Crouch but Tamudo looks pretty promising. Both would be realistic signings.

I've been really impressed with samba playing upfront. Oppositioin defenses were putting at least two men on him and he still won the majority of long balls his hold up play was pretty much unsurpassed towards the end of the season in the home games at least. Does anyone know exactly why we're getting rid of derbyshire? I know he's not exactly a prolific goalscorer but I'd have liked to have seen him given a chance alongside samba. Personally i'd rather see a creative midfielder that won't instantly join the injury list come in.
