Bristol City v Blackburn Rovers, Sun 2 Sept 2018, KO 13:30

Got an early Sunday match. Would be nice to see Brereton come on as a sub. Probably won't see Dack or Armstrong again in this match as well.

Dack, Armstrong and Williams should all be ready to play, especially Dack he's been training all week I'm pretty sure. Gladwin and Davenport are close to returns now too and Reed, Rodwell and Brereton will be in the match day squad by the sounds of it. I think he'll probably look to stick with a strong tried and test line up:

----------------Raya
Nyambe Lenihan Mulgrew Bell
--------Smallwood Evans
Bennett-------Dack-----Palmer
-------------Armstrong

Probably harsh on Rothwell if he drops to the bench, whatever team starts we'll have a very strong bench!

I can't imagine Dack or Armstrong getting a start or being on the bench unless Mowbray feels confident they are 100% ready to go. We have a 2 week break after Bristol City so it makes no sense to risk Dack or Armstrong when they can fully heal after that. I would love to see a strong line-up for this match, but when there's still 40 matches to go after this, what does one match mean?

I would imagine that Palmer might be dropped to the bench for Rothwell if anything, he doesn't track back as well or know how to play as good defensively.

I understood that Dack and Armstrong were both fit enough to play against Lincoln but Mowbray elected not to play them.
Danny will surely start as cf, possibly with Armstrong on the wing, Nuttall on the bench.
I just don't envisage Mpwbray making all the signings that he has and continuing with Evans and Smallwood every match -they may have been adequate last season but the Championship needs a step up in quality.
When he's had a chance to assess Rodwell, Brereton, and the other new signings I can see significant changes being made for the Villa match.

I’d be surprised if he dropped Palmer. I think the most likely players to drop to the bench are Rothwell (who’s been great) and Graham. I think Dack will start and possibly Armstrong.

If Dack and Armstrong are fit to play i would start the game with them. From a Bristol point of view i would be worried about Dack in particular. Why start him on the bench when he is the best chance of winning the game. Interesting this morning that Gareth Southgate said he is considering Championship players. If Dack plays well today if selected then i can see no reason why he shouldnt be in Southgates thoughts for upcoming England friendlies. You can then forget 7 million or even 15 million. Lets start the bidding at 30 million shall we :)

No Dack in the 18, but we line up as

Raya
Nyambe-Lenihan-Mulgrew-Bell
Smallwood-Evans
Bennett-Palmer-Armstrong
Graham

Brereton, Rothwell, Williams, Reed, Nuttall, Conway, and Leutwiler sit on the bench.

Bench is looking stronger. Add Dack to the starting line up and the bench gets even stronger. Rothwell unlucky not to start. Toss up in future games between Bell and Williams. Bell now sees Williams back on the Bench. Today Bell has to try and keep his place by putting in an outstanding performance. Brereton is a great option to turn to for either wing or up front. Closing out a game then Conway is a great option to turn too. Try and stay unbeaten by end of today. Get the knocks healed and players back and start again after international break.Come on Rovers :hyper:

Doubt it. Not with the Old Firm Derby, Test Match, Arsenal Vs Cardiff, Italian Grand Prix, and Ipswich Vs Norwich all happening too. I think we were only shoved to Sunday to accommodate the stadium also being used on the opening day of the Rugby Premiership on Friday.

Half time at 1-1. Bit unlucky to concede that free kick, which Raya could do nothing about. I feel as if Rovers are on the back foot right now, not taking their chances well. Armstrong has tried at least 3 times to take a shot, which all have been saved or blocked. Probably could have laid off to Graham once and it would have at least troubled the keeper.

Overall, I think Smallwood needs to come off for Reed or Rothwell. I am not being inspired by Smallwood right now, I think he is the weak link in the midfield right now.

Evans however is a man possessed.

Trash...

Bristol City up 3-1 now. Kind of an eye opening performance from Rovers. Lenihan is not having the best performance today, same with Raya aside from a couple good saves.
