Re: My trip to Ewood.

Waco,

You obviously didn't do the Barbary Coast tour in Blackburn by night around 1968 either! - that might be stretching some readers on here too.

I lived near Bath in the 80's, nice town but full of bloody tourists!

Up the Rovers,

Re: The Club Formerly Known As Frank Lampard's Now Wayne Rooney's Derby County v Blackburn Rovers, Sun 8 March 2020, KO

All, my belated input about our left backs from an old 'un. Eckersley wasn't actually all that great and was from that earlier knobbly-knee'd era, so the best in my book was Keith Newton who was a "modern" player, fast, wanna-be winger, used either foot, tall (though his heading skills were zero in ...

Re: My trip to Ewood.

Waco, finally got to see the pics and they are fab! So glad that they looked after you as my namesake said they would. I wish I could have done that with you (I think we passed each other on the M6 as I headed north, well M6 for me, train for you, there is that spot in Staffs where it goes over the ...

but mcteeth, it's Rovers, a sizable chunk (too big a chunk) of fans have always been quick to be negative, keeps the blood flowing!

Re: Where are they now?

Ah yes, Wales' version of Tugay, the similarities ended below the hairline :)

Who saw the skinning of Phil Jones on Sunday?

Is this the same bloke who as a 17 year old Rover (on his debut?) had the great Drogba in his pocket...?

Maybe he's our next CB acquisition!

All,

With the concerns on here about today's under-whelming win, I found this interesting, most of you are probably ahead of me and have already seen it

Thoughts?

Re: Ewood Park tour.

Waco and Mrs Waco, So glad it all worked out for you two, It's quite a nice little (by TX standards) stadium isn't it? As you could tell we are very proud of our little club, even with all the recent downs and ups and I am sure the staff were very impressed that two Texans took the time and expense ...

Re: Fergie R.I.P

Darth, well worth the 2/6 or it might have been 3 bob by then! I know we (I) get rose-tinted specs about the good old days but it seems that way. However, other old timers on here will remember being beaten by the likes of Workington, Rochdale etc too Come to think of it, there were a lot of those g...

Fergie R.I.P

All, It seems to be my role on here to recognize and recall memories of Rovers' greats when I were a lad so give a quiet respectful RIP and raise a pint to one of the best wingers I saw in Mike Ferguson. A much under-estimated player, overshadowed a bit at first by Douggie, Pickering etc he was some...

Re: Bolton

All, It used to be that we hated Burnley because they were good, we hated Bolton because they were dirty. You could always depend on Burnley for a good game, but always depend on Bolton for a good cloggin'! They had the smallest goalie in the country but it didn't matter with their two full backs, F...

Re: Friendly: Bury/Blackburn

Jim, great idea, I'd allow Burnley into that scheme, they are currently showing what can be done in small Lancs town but they almost died in the 1980s, we at Rovers shouldn't kid ourselves, we were hanging on ourselves in the late 1970s and early 80s - there but for the grace of Jack Walker.... But ...

OOJW!! he lives, he breathes! So nice to see your name up there sir, especially on JW's "day"! Welcome back, to Ewood and the board!

Now, where's Starr got to these days, lost in Oswaldtwistle?

Good steady win on Saturday, just need another 20 or so at home like that. Up the Rovers!

Re: The Bolton chaos

Well said Darth Rover, Bolton are a good Lancs club with a great history. I spent many happy/sad moments at the mud-hole called Burnden Park! Their long-suffering supporters might appreciate some mental support right now poor sods, there but for the grace of Venkies.... (or will it eventually be, th...

Re: Fred Pickering R.I.P.

J.Capelle, nice to hear from you. Blegburn is how the old timers pronounced Blackburn in the local dialect. Funny you mentioned dugdoo, never heard that but growing up i'Darwen, I was referred to as being a "Darren doodoo", because we don't just say "they doo" but add another to make it "they doo do...
