Re: Rovers vs. Doncaster, FA Cup: Post-match

Loaners are a band aid, a temporary fix. We’re not building for the future with them. As great as Harvey Elliott is, at the end of the season, he goes back to Liverpool. We could never afford him. Cunningham was doing a good job until he got hurt, back he goes. Adarabioyo was our best back a year a...

Re: Rovers vs. Doncaster, FA Cup: Post-match

Ayala & Douglas have been far off their performance this year, we won’t lose much when they return to their clubs. Didn’t we sign Ayala on a 3 year deal? 😀 You are right, but based on what we’ve seen from him so far (or, what we’ve NOT seen from him), I don’t have any wildly successful expectat...

Re: Rovers vs. Doncaster, FA Cup: Post-match

I see the good sense in getting Branthwaite; if we are truly close to a playoff spot, we weren’t getting there with Johnson as a centre-back. We might with Branthwaite. As far as Ayala goes, I read too many pieces from places he’s played previously- he’s injury-prone. No surprise he’s done this seas...

Re: Rovers vs. Doncaster, FA Cup: Post-match

I’ve already said Tosin was our best defender... but we weren’t going to keep him. We simply got another loan this year to replace him. Bentley was before my time. Yes, we did eventually purchase Graham. If there’s an eye towards doing this, great. Re: Adarabioyo, we knew at the time we could not po...

Re: Rovers vs. Doncaster, FA Cup: Post-match

Our Academy is doing great. I’m excited about the U23’s... currently 2nd in PL2, behind Chelsea. Not to rush anybody through the system too fast, but we’ve already seen some good results from our system- Travis, Lenihan, Nyambe, JR-C, to name a few. Some people gripe about what was spent on Gallaghe...

Re: Rovers vs. Doncaster, FA Cup: Post-match

I’m still not in favor of loaners; however, with three centre-backs out, we needed immediate help. Branthwaite provides that.

Who knows, all these teenagers enthusiasm may be just what Rovers need for a late season surge! We can hope...

Also, Thor is much better starting threads, polls, etc. I just start ‘em if I see time is running short.

Re: Rovers vs. Doncaster, FA Cup: Post-match

RtT, In my 4th post, I said when we get Nyambe back, & if Mowbray picks up a couple of backs, we could see some real progress, especially if Dacky & Travis can give the scoring a boost. Rovers could be a handful to other clubs, if we can continue to score, while improving the defending. Howe...

Re: Rovers vs. Doncaster, FA Cup: Post-match

I go back to my original question: Why was there no FA Cup match thread? Are people here not interested in the FA Cup, or simply bored of a stagnating team that is not achieving as much on the pitch as it’s probably capable of? On typical game days, we get 13-14 posts here. Apparently, we’re not exa...

Re: Rovers vs. Doncaster, FA Cup: Post-match

The manager has assembled a half decent squad - sack him if he now doesn't achieve success? Because we need someone to whom we can waste more money to take us to the 'next level'? It's a fantasy that fans tell themselves to make it feel like there are easy and obtainable actions that have a concret...

Re: Rovers vs. Doncaster, FA Cup: Post-match

I think you have unreasonable expectations of success. What makes us so special? Nothing at all as far as I can see. We're just another Championship club and happen to have a manager who has put together a team that is scoring more than any other in the league despite some injury issues and is a so...

Re: Rovers vs. Doncaster, FA Cup: Post-match

Do you have confidence that he would be replaced by someone better? That’s what it boils down to. No, I don’t really have confidence he would be Replaced by anyone better. But, I do not feel mediocrity should be rewarded. I appreciate everyone’s replies. I look up to all you, as you love the club a...

Re: Rovers vs. Doncaster, FA Cup: Post-match

Duggy, Thank you for responding. I’ve always admired your love for the club, & candor, and I agree with what you say here. I suppose I’m an emotional shareholder... although much less than any of you. Most of us here at Roverstalk have defended Mowbray all along; we’ve appreciated him for his le...
