Re: General Election

Uh huh, making profit is bad, that's why we all hand back every penny we earn that doesn't pay for the bare essentials of keeping us alive... :yeahright: Don't get too hung up on the example. The point is, you give people money to spend, they pay tax on the purchases. The sellers make a profit, they...

Re: General Election

It could be an astute economic policy in the long run, but it's always difficult to sell politically because opponents will focus on the immediate beneficiaries rather than how the tax cut will recycle through the economy. It's funny how people moan about, for example, loss of jobs in the car indust...

Re: Today's random stupidity story...

Basically what I said no? There is little other than context between the two comments and metaphorical or no I personally think they are both ill conceived... But if brand is out of line and worthy of criminal proceedings then so was Farage... And more importantly so will be be next time he inevita...

Re: Today's random stupidity story...

It's obvious it was a joke made by a comedian, to another comedian on a satirical show... Contrasted to Farages own threat to 'Don khakis and a rifle' following the brutal murder of a remain supporting MP that he brushed off as 'satire'. Seriously? The whole point is neither comment was literal, yo...

Re: Work Rants

My wife's just returned to work after maternity leave, and was told she'd be expected to attend one or two meetings a year at another site that would require an overnight stop. At the end of the first week, she was informed the first of these meetings was actually this month, and she'd need to catch...

Can't help thinking the Boris Johnson court case is only going to strengthen his support.

Re: Brexit....or in.

It was hearing Cable on the radio that prompted me to suggest those claiming victory for their viewpoint needed maths lessons. Oh yes, and here was how his party were splitting the vote before the election: https://www.brfcs.com/mb/uploads/monthly_2019_05/D7p9umRW4AAGwOF.jpg.fb66b387fd24002644894a64...

Re: Brexit....or in.

Well I think we need a rerun of these European Elections. People may have changed their mind since last Thursday. They didn't undestand the consequences of what they were voting for. They've been misled by the slogan "Bollocks to Brexit" because you can't literally give bollocks to Brexit. And all t...

Re: Brexit....or in.

As I said, I just want you to explain this.. That the country is still pretty much divided right down the middle. And Farage is still a tosser. Well, that we knew from the referendum result. How do we know what the country thinks now from a referendum result that was 3 years ago? Simple enough ques...

Re: Brexit....or in.

Eh? You're the one using the referendum result to interpret these latest results: you said we're still split down the middle, your knowledge of that split comes from the 2016 vote. Go on, tell me how a 3 year old referendum explains how we are split down the middle right now. You want me to...

Re: Brexit....or in.

Well, that we knew from the referendum result. Not from these results. Approx 5.8m voted for parties putting Brexit as there main policy. 6m for parties wanting to reverse the result (forgetting that the Greens primarily stand for something else). 3.8m For the traditional main parties. Around 1m fo...
