Re: Cricket

Utterly brilliant match yesterday. Seems harsh on New Zealand that they "lost" on a boundary count, another super over or sharing the trophy would seem more fitting. I've seen some suggest New Zealand should have won because they lost fewer wickets, but that misses the point that Rashid wouldn't ha...

Re: General Election

Well normally you get super pedantic on here and attribute the pronoun literally.....

But nice that you dodge the point.

Re: General Election

I'm not setting any bar; Watson was. And he used the example of Peter Willsman as the example. Corbyn has never directly demonstrated anything close to anti semitism, whereas Willsman certainly has. I know you dislike Corbyn, but you can only point to circumstantial evidence rather than a direct eve...

Re: General Election

I think you've gone off on a tangent somewhat there; the argument was that he clearly hasn't demonstrated obvious and direct anti semitic sentiment in his comments, and so wouldn't meet the criteria of auto expulsion and so wouldn't be passing a rule that would exclude him from the Labour party. :sh...

Re: General Election

Automatic explosion yes; for demonstrating anti semitic behaviour (hopefully just all round racist behaviour, or perhaps even threatening behaviour). Does Corbyn do that? Not really. There's certainly a difference between supporting Palestine and being anti-semitic; negligence is also a different ma...

Re: General Election

Oh I don't disagree that he won't change the rules, but I do disagree there's be grounds to expel him, but it really will be interesting to see what happens. I don't think Corbyn is anti-semitic, and I don't think any rule change would mean he'd be expelled. There are certainly others that demonstra...

Re: General Election

Tom Watson's interview on radio 4 after the panorama program on anti semitism was very interesting; pretty much called out Corbyn to change the party rules to allow auto expulsion of members who exhibit anti semitic sentiment. Will be very interesting to see if that happens. Also his comments on the...

Re: General Election

I think you've sidestepped the point I was making with the example there, but never mind... If Dan now says the Tiananmen Square massacre didn't happen, and you also ignore that to prove a point, and Gibbon said it didn't happen, and you ignored that, and blackbat said it, and so on, then you are b...

One Labour member in a constituency membership of 2000. If only the level of stupidity in the general population was that low.
Yes but this is just one of many recent incidents.

I think you're simply demonstrating my second point.

Re: General Election

Which is only made worse by doing stupid shit like trying to fire a pregnant woman over signing a letter to suspend Chris Williamson. Right? Or did you miss that bit? I think that was just a couple of Labour members in that constituency being idiots. Yes but there appears to be a trend of "a couple...

The Labour party's handling over the whole thing has simply escalated it time and time again. Personally I don't think Williamson sai...

Re: General Election

So whilst BoJo and Jermeny C Hunt contine to try and buy votes with tax cuts, the Labour party continue to implode over the originally largely manufactured anti-Zionist now anti-semitism issue: https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2019/jul/03/labour-mp-faces-deselection-threat-over-chris-williamson-...

Re: General Election

It could be an astute economic policy in the long run, but it's always difficult to sell politically because opponents will focus on the immediate beneficiaries rather than how the tax cut will recycle through the economy. It's funny how people moan about, for example, loss of jobs in the car indus...

Re: Brexit....or in.

I'm still loving Vince Cable's comment that it's clear that a majority want to cancel Brexit.... from 40% of 37%. Corbyn comes a close second with the claim that the Labour policy has always been clear... we want a general election, or a referendum, or a confirmatory vote.... And as for Alastair Cam...

Re: Brexit....or in.

So the Brexit party take UKIPs votes and most of the Tory vote. Lib Dems and the Greens take Labour's vote. The split in England & Wales (still waiting for the Scottish and NI votes) is about 40% pro remain, 35% hard leave, Labour 14%, Tory 9% (teehee). Turnout pretty low though, at 37%. Also, hilar...
