Re: The Steve Kean / management thread

Kean must knock himself out with a few bottles of wine every night then, because there's no way any credible football manager could sleep soundly on the back of such a dire run of form with his side 4 points adrift of safety in the relegation zone, playing dire football and with the number of winnab...

Re: The Steve Kean / management thread

I would target Hughes but he won't come, in which case I'd try and tempt Curbishley back into the game. The likes of Souness, Grant and Dave Jones (the most overrated manager in history) will never keep us up.

Re: Sunderland vs Rovers, Sun 11th Dec, 1:30pm

In terms of the game itself, I thought defensively we were pretty comfortable for the majority of the match. Samba was immense and Robinson pulled off a few excellent saves (especially the attempt by Richardson in the first half, what a miss). Our midfield also looked reasonable in that Sunderland w...

Re: Cardiff V Rovers, Tues 29th Nov, 20:00

The funny thing about that statement from Kean is that he used the word "forfeit" again. Does he not know what it means? It was a half-assed effort last night at best. Throwing on Roberts and Yakubu with 10 minutes to go was pointless - they were never going to make a decent impact in that time-fram...

Re: Steve Kean thread - Now with 'sack or back' poll.

I'm one of Kean's biggest critics but never in my most pessimistic moods back in August did I think that by December 2011 the following would be true: - ONE victory. - BOTTOM of the league four points adrift of safety. I'm just sad at the moment, sad that our 12-year stay in the top flight, barring ...

Re: Steve Kean thread - Now with 'sack or back' poll.

If Kean's son is bullied over his father's incompetence then that is abhorrent. However, you have to question why Kean keeps putting himself and his family through what must be phenomenal stress. Normal people would have quit weeks ago.

Re: Steve Kean thread - Now with 'sack or back' poll.

So who's going to make a complete fool of themselves by defending Steve Kean after this latest miserable result? The man is fucking deranged and the owners would seemingly back him even if he decided to put our under-12s against Stoke next week. I have not felt this depressed to be a Rovers fan for ...

Re: Steve Kean thread - Now with 'sack or back' poll.

We're either shit or we're unlucky. Both are a recipe for relegation. Irrespective of the fact that Kean still charms the players, I would put a load of money on a decent new manager (the ilk of O'Neill) having an immediate positive impact on results. Time is ticking and achievable points are slippi...

Re: Steve Kean thread - Now with 'sack or back' poll.

The performance against Spurs is largely irrelevant. We passed the point of a must win game weeks ago, and the longer Kean is in charge, the more points we throw away and the shorter our odds of survival become. I don't care that Spurs are a better side - great managers pull results out of the bag w...

Re: Steve Kean thread - Now with 'sack or back' poll.

If Venky's don't pull their fingers out of their arses and sack Kean NOW we will be too far adrift come Christmas. In fact, following today's umpteenth defeat, I am becoming more convinced that they won't sack Steve Kean in a month of Sundays. Has there ever been a more obviously failing manager in ...

Re: Steve Kean thread - Now with 'sack or back' poll.

It's well documented on here that I think there are plenty of reasons why a rookie manager's record may look deceptively poor Kean's overall record is the worst of any BRFC manager in living memory. There's nothing deceptive about that (apart from Kean's constant deception during post-match intervi...

Re: Steve Kean thread - Now with 'sack or back' poll.

Because I don't think he's had enough games with the squad to decide one way or the other. This has been a fairly disasterous last couple of games, how he copes with it will be key. And because I usually let my brain overide my heart in business decisions. Thank fuck you're not running the BRFC bus...

Re: Steve Kean thread - Now with 'sack or back' poll.

That's rather irrational? The only reason not to let Kean appoint another assistant manager would be if there is no intention to let him carry on in the job. In which case, why not sack him now instead of making it even harder for him to do the job? That's precisely what I want to happen. However, ...

Re: Steve Kean thread - Now with 'sack or back' poll.

If Venky's provide Bean with a new number 2 then that will represent the most depressing BRFC news I'll have read in a long time, as it would mean that Kean will be around for the foreseeable future.

I hope and pray that Jensen is only replaced when a new number 1 comes in also.

Re: Steve Kean thread - Now with 'sack or back' poll.

I signed for Celtic at a very young age, 13, and had great years there. In my first year as a pro there were 54 professionals at the club and I couldn't get in the team . I knew I had to go and play elsewhere. Even here he's making excuses for his average playing career. I wish he'd make a similar ...
