I hope so. I suspect we've picked up more points this season playing with 5 in the middle (or 4 plus one in the hole) than straight 4-4-2 which encourages hoofball.

Re: Bolton v Blackburn, Sat 1st Mar 2014, 15:00

So very poor. Playing 4-4-2 with Lowe and Williamson in the middle gave Rovers no impetus going forward and an inability to keep the ball. This led to rovers hoofing the ball up to Gestede and Rhodes against 2 massive centre backs when it was clear this played into their hands. Bolton were able to h...

Re: Reading vs Rovers

A 6 pointer in the sense that a defeat will make it very hard to catch Reading, which realistically we need to do if we're going to finish in 6th.

Probably lose about 3-0 though if we're being honest.

Re: Rovers v Blackpool, Sat 1st Feb 2014, 3pm

Not sure if Conway is fit enough to play the 90 but should be in the squad. Really need to win this if serious about a top 6 finish. Blackpool have taken 2 points from their last 8 games, and you can pretty much guarantee our promotion rivals would take advantage of playing such a team in turmoil. T...

Re: Barnsley vs Rovers, Tue 28th Jan 2014, 7:45pm

A poor performance against poor opposition. The whole team set up was ridiculous, with no width at all and everything being played through the middle. This worked relatively well in the first half with wing backs bombing forward, but after taking the foot off the gas at 2-1 and Barnsley seemed to ha...

Re: Rovers v Doncaster, Sat 11th Jan 2014, 3pm

OK performance overall. We probably didn't play as well as the Birmingham game, and probably only really deserved a draw, as Doncaster really came back into it in the 2nd half. I really felt Bowyer should have switched to 5 in midfield sooner than he did, as that killed the game really (except their...

Re: burnley rivalry

I went to the lake district last weekend and missed the city game (I know, I temporarily became moon) and was in Kendal when the game started. I found a pub showing the match on some foreign channel so sat down to watch the 1st half. At half time the channel changed to Bayern Munich TV or something ...

Hopefully it will be as straightforward as letting Best leave on a free. Somehow I suspect we won't be able to give him away on his wages.

Re: Rovers v Sheffield Wednesday, Thu 26th Dec 2013, 3pm

Tactically inept I'm afraid and disappointing all round. Unsure why the pacey, strong Gestede is played behind Rhodes, so every hoof in the 1st half ends up being aimed at Rhodes, who has no chance. Those two seemed to be the wrong way round to me. The 2nd half was even hoofier, with rovers creating...

2 very winnable game coming up at home too before the new year. I think the top 4 are probably going to stay there now, so its any of 8 teams fighting for the remaining 2 spots.

And if I was prone to mcteeth-esque predictions, I'd have said weeks ago that it was a fact that Rochina would be shipped out in January... ;) King is pret...

Re: Rovers vs Millwall, Sat 14th Dec, 15:00

Dunn out to avenge one of the most painful defeats of his career this weekend. Rovers’ FA Cup quarter-final reverse at home to Millwall last season, and the chance to play eventual winners Wigan Athletic at Wembley in the semis, still rankles with Dunn. The veteran midfielder believes some of his t...
