If you do that, is there any way of disabling it as a user?

Not on a site basis - you could use the adblocker add-on for FF to block those types of objects. Or not read the thread. You got bandwidth issues with them?

Nope, just thining that when I go on to a thread, I don't necessarily want a nice youtube clip to be playing whilst at work - particularly seeing as we're on voip now and when someone calls it automatically turns mute off and the volume up. I occasionally forget and don't have my headphones plugged in.....

No problem, no you don't - we were just discussing embedding them rather than linking them, pros & cons.
Do they auto play when you embed them? The site remembers the volume level you set in the player - it may also remember it in embedded vids (so you set it do zero). Need to test it really.

Embedded videos from YouTube on Myspace give you the option to autoplay them or be dependant on the user, so I don't see why it would be any different here...

Tested - by default don't play until you hit the play btn. I'll install the mod later.

Ah cool, the other forum I post on that has them has them auto starting, but they're marked clearly as youtube with a little icon on the topic title.

No you haven't - cos you can't atm. Thats what the mod I'm going to install lets you do. Don't worry, everything is in hand.
